Regulations for exchanging and returning train tickets on the Northern route

Hanoi Railway Transport Joint Stock Company said that the railway applies regulations on exchanging and returning train tickets for the summer of 2023 until August 30, for the North-South route only, depending on the train brand and transportation distance.

Accordingly, it applies to the Thong Nhat Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City train brands including: SE1/SE2, SE3/SE4, SE5/SE6, SE7/SE8, SE9/SE10, SE11/SE12; Train brands in the middle section of Hanoi - Da Nang , Hanoi - Dong Hoi, Hanoi - Vinh, Saigon - Nha Trang, Saigon - Quy Nhon, Saigon - Da Nang, Saigon - Phan Thiet.

For regular individual and group tickets (no discount policy applies when buying tickets far from the departure date), the minimum ticket return fee is 10,000 VND/ticket. For individual tickets, the specific regulations are: Changes made 24 hours or more before the train departs, the fee is 20,000 VND/ticket, no ticket changes are made less than 24 hours; ticket changes are not applicable for group tickets. When returning tickets, if returned 24 hours or more before the train departs, the fee is 10% of the price; if returned 4 hours to less than 24 hours in advance, the fee is 20% of the price; if returned less than 4 hours, the ticket is not returned.

For group tickets, if paid 72 hours or more in advance, the fee is 10% of the fare; if paid 24 to less than 72 hours in advance, the fee is 20% of the fare; if paid less than 24 hours, the ticket will not be returned.

For tickets, the discount policy applies when purchasing tickets far from the departure date, the prepayment time and fee depend on the discount level.

Specifically, individual tickets on Thong Nhat passenger trains with a travel distance of 900km or more, Saigon - Da Nang SE21/SE22 trains with a travel distance of 600km or more, Saigon - Quy Nhon SE29/SE30 trains with a travel distance of 400km or more, Saigon - Nha Trang SNT trains with a travel distance of 300km or more: Tickets with a 5-10% discount, when changing or returning tickets, the fee will be according to current regulations; Tickets with a 20% or 30% discount must be changed or returned at least 72 hours before the train departs, the fee will be equivalent to the discount.

For trains SE1/SE2, SE5/SE6 running from May 18 to August 20, when buying tickets 20-39 days before departure, you will receive a 15% discount on the ticket price. When changing or returning tickets, you will be charged a 20% deduction fee. When buying tickets 40 days or more before departure, you will receive a 20% discount on the ticket price. When changing or returning tickets, you will be charged a 30% deduction fee. The time to change or return tickets must also be no later than 72 hours before the train departs.
