Regulations for exchanging or refunding train tickets on the North route.

Hanoi Railway Transport Joint Stock Company announced that the regulations for exchanging and refunding train tickets during the summer of 2023 will be in effect until August 30th, with the North-South route depending on the train type and distance.

Accordingly, this applies to the following Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City Thong Nhat train routes: SE1/SE2, SE3/SE4, SE5/SE6, SE7/SE8, SE9/SE10, SE11/SE12; and the following regional train routes: Hanoi - Da Nang , Hanoi - Dong Hoi, Hanoi - Vinh, Saigon - Nha Trang, Saigon - Quy Nhon, Saigon - Da Nang, Saigon - Phan Thiet.

For regular individual and group tickets (discounts for tickets purchased well in advance of the train departure date do not apply), the minimum cancellation fee is 10,000 VND per ticket. For individual tickets, the specific regulations are as follows: Changes made 24 hours or more before departure incur a fee of 20,000 VND per ticket; changes made less than 24 hours incur no fees. Changes are not permitted for group tickets. When canceling tickets, a 10% cancellation fee applies for cancellations made 24 hours or more before departure; a 20% cancellation fee applies for cancellations made between 4 and 24 hours in advance; and no cancellations are allowed for cancellations made less than 4 hours in advance.

For group tickets, a 10% surcharge applies if booked 72 hours or more in advance; a 20% surcharge applies if booked between 24 and 72 hours in advance; no refunds are given for bookings made less than 24 hours in advance.

For tickets eligible for discounts when purchased well in advance of the train departure date, the advance payment period and fees vary depending on the discount level.

Specifically, for individual tickets on Thong Nhat passenger trains with a travel distance of 900km or more, Saigon - Da Nang SE21/SE22 trains with a travel distance of 600km or more, Saigon - Quy Nhon SE29/SE30 trains with a travel distance of 400km or more, and Saigon - Nha Trang SNT trains with a travel distance of 300km or more: For tickets with a 5-10% discount, the fee for changing or canceling tickets is according to current regulations; for tickets with a 20% or 30% discount, changes or cancellations must be made at least 72 hours before the train departure time, with a fee equivalent to the discount amount.

For trains SE1/SE2 and SE5/SE6 running between May 18th and August 20th, a 15% discount is offered for tickets purchased 20-39 days in advance. A 20% deduction fee will apply for ticket changes or cancellations. Tickets purchased 40 days or more in advance receive a 20% discount, but a 30% deduction fee will apply for changes or cancellations. Changes or cancellations must be made at least 72 hours before the scheduled departure time.
