On the evening of May 4th, the Food Safety Department ( Ministry of Health ) sent a document to the Departments of Health of provinces and cities; the Ho Chi Minh City Food Safety Department and the Food Safety and Hygiene Sub-departments, warning about the a2 Platinum Premium formula milk product for children aged 0-12 months.

Accordingly, this agency requested localities to review the registration and self-declaration of the a2 Platinum Premium USA infant formula, powder form with added iron (a2 Platinum Premium infant formula 0-12 months Milk-based powder with Iron) produced by A2 Milk Company.
Simultaneously, work with the product distributor (if any), requesting them to notify the distribution system and consumers to stop using the product and proceed with the recall as recommended by the manufacturer; report the quantity imported, sold, and remaining in stock, and propose handling measures.
The Food Safety Department also requested increased sampling and monitoring of products circulating in the market, especially milk and nutritional products for young children; timely warnings and recalls of substandard products, and public awareness campaigns to discourage consumers from using the aforementioned product batches. The results of the handling process must be reported before May 18th.
Previously, on May 2nd, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced that A2 Milk Company was voluntarily recalling three batches of a2 Platinum Premium USA powdered milk (fortified with iron) for children aged 0-12 months due to the detection of cereulide – a heat-stable toxin produced by the bacterium Bacillus cereus, which can be harmful to young children.
The recalled lots include: 2210269454 (expiry date 15-7-2026); 2210324609 (expiry date 21-1-2027); 2210321712 (expiry date 15-1-2027), packaged in 31.7-ounce tins, sold in the U.S.
Also on May 4th, the Food Safety Department sent a document to the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ), requesting that they notify e-commerce platforms and websites to coordinate with distributors and vendors to cease selling any recalled milk batches (if any in Vietnam), remove product information, and handle the matter according to the law.
