VESCO Company mobilizes staff, workers and laborers to participate in collecting ocean waste. |
By the morning of May 26, due to the large amount of garbage washing ashore, in addition to the environmental sanitation workers, VESCO Company also mobilized 70 more officers and office staff along with collection vehicles, excavators, compactors, etc. to work from 4am to collect and process the garbage.
As of 9am on May 26, the company had collected about 50 tons of garbage and cleaned the beach. However, ocean waste continued to pour onto the beach, making the collection and treatment work of VESCO Company difficult.
The area has a lot of garbage, so VESCO Company had to mobilize a crane to collect it. |
According to Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hau, Deputy General Director of VESCO Company, every year, the beaches in Vung Tau City have to endure 2-3 waves of ocean trash such as water hyacinth, mangrove fruits, dry firewood, styrofoam boxes, plastic bags, and plastic items from the Dong Nai and Can Gio estuaries.
The period of ocean trash overflow also lasts for many months (from May to November).
