Vibrant colors of ethnic cultures at the Sam Mứn Spring Festival

To welcome the 14th National Party Congress and the New Year 2026, on the morning of December 28th, the Sam Mun Spring Festival was inaugurated in Na U village, Sam Mun commune (Dien Bien province).

With the desire to create a cultural, sporting , and engaging experience for the people and tourists, the Organizing Committee of the Sam Mứn Commune Festival has arranged spaces for various activities: unique cultural and artistic performances; traditional costume shows; competitions in tug-of-war, tug-of-war, stick pushing; rice cake pounding competition, and bullfighting.

In particular, locals and tourists can experience the cultural space of the H'Mong ethnic group, the daily life of H'Mong families during the traditional New Year "Nào pê Chầu"; experience the cultural space of the Thai ethnic group, and witness the "Hạn khuống" art performance; and experience community cultural activities and traditional folk games, such as: khene dance, umbrella dance, xoe dance, pao throwing, pipe singing, love duet singing, seesaw, swing...

At the festival area, there are also stalls selling local specialty agricultural products and agricultural tools, which visitors can collect...

With stalls showcasing typical agricultural products, OCOP products attracted a large number of locals and tourists to shop, including: potatoes, tomatoes, guavas, vegetables, corn, vermicelli, pomelos, green squash, pumpkins, rice, sesame seeds, peanuts, upland sticky rice... The commune has 5 OCOP-certified products on display, such as deer antler wine, 27-year-old wine, dried meat... opening up opportunities for trade and consumption linkages for people in the highlands.

Comrade Pham Thiet Chuy, Chairman of the People's Committee of Sam Mun commune, said: "These activities not only create a joyful and enthusiastic atmosphere for the people and tourists but also serve as a 'living space' where traditional culture is vividly recreated, close to community life. Through this, it contributes to arousing national pride and raising awareness of preserving cultural identity in each person, especially the young people in the highlands."
