Samsung has chosen Seoul, South Korea, as the location for its upcoming Unpacked event (July 26) for the first time, due to its role in influencing global trends with its “dynamic and innovative” culture. The event will be held at different times from its usual schedule, and will be broadcast live on Samsung’s web portal and YouTube channel.
Invitation to launch new Samsung product line
The new Galaxy Z is likely to be the star of the show, and the promotional image for the event confirms this. Samsung has been the undisputed leader in this segment of the market since its inception, but this position is being challenged by products from Motorola, Google and Chinese companies. So the company is trying to strengthen its role in the market, at least until Apple launches its first foldable iPhones.
The two foldable smartphones that Samsung will launch at the next Unpacked will be the flagship Galaxy Z Fold5 and the smaller and cheaper pocket-sized Galaxy Z Flip5. Based on recent leaks, the new products are expected to come with an improved hinge system, smaller bezels on the Galaxy Z Fold5, and a larger outer display on the Galaxy Z Flip5.
Alongside the two new Galaxy Z members, leaks suggest Samsung is also expected to unveil a number of other devices at the event, including a new smartwatch called the Galaxy Watch6.
