Hanoi, the capital city, is experiencing days of intense heat. Today alone, the surface temperature of the concrete at the apron of Noi Bai International Airport reached 71 degrees Celsius.
The widespread high temperatures combined with the heat emanating from the operating aircraft engines make the working environment at Noi Bai airport particularly harsh.
Despite the high temperatures, the workload for staff and workers in the airfield must be maintained steadily to ensure the maintenance schedule is met.
One of the most important tasks at the airfield is patrolling and collecting foreign object debris (FOD) to ensure the absolute safety of aircraft takeoffs and landings.
Airport staff must use their time to complete construction work before the weather could suddenly turn stormy or tornado-like.
Representatives from the Noi Bai Airport Operations Center stated that the unit has proactively arranged flexible work shifts to protect the health of its staff, except in emergency situations requiring immediate attention. In addition, the airport's labor union regularly organizes visits and provides gifts to encourage the personnel stationed at critical locations.
