A representative of Tan Son Nhat International Airport said that on February 13 (the 4th day of Tet), the number of passengers from provinces and cities across the country flocking to Tan Son Nhat Airport increased as the Lunar New Year holiday was about to end.
Today, Tan Son Nhat airport is expected to operate 834 flights arriving and departing with approximately 136,000 passengers. The distribution of passengers in the domestic terminal reached nearly 91,000, the international terminal maintained the same level as previous days (approximately 45,000 passengers).
Thus, the number of passengers passing through Tan Son Nhat airport during the day will set a new peak since entering the peak service period for the Year of the Dragon. Previously, the highest level was on February 7 (28th of the Lunar New Year) with 134,000 passengers.
In the coming days, the number of passengers from the provinces to Tan Son Nhat airport is forecast to be very large. Therefore, the port will arrange a rapid response team to inspect and monitor to detect and coordinate with the Tan Son Nhat International Airport Police Station to handle touts, motorbike taxis, and motorbike taxis operating in the inner port area.
The port also coordinates with taxi companies, contract cars, and technology cars to increase the number of vehicles in service; coordinates with ground service units to arrange staff to support passengers at security screening checkpoints.
At the same time, the port closely coordinates with airlines in updating flight schedules, resources, ground service equipment, and passenger services; strengthens coordination with port authorities and functional forces in ensuring security, safety, and traffic order.
Since early February 2024, Tan Son Nhat Airport has applied many technological solutions to help relieve congestion at the airport. The A-CDM (Airport Collaborative Decision Making) model is used by units to coordinate and share information and data to make decisions during the coordination and operation process.
This is effective in helping units proactively know flight status, forecasting ability, planning, and increasing the number of on-time flights by 20%.
In addition, from the afternoon of February 6 (27th of Tet), Tan Son Nhat airport began testing a cashless toll collection system at the gate area, helping cars reduce waiting time and limit congestion.
