Woman in her 60s successfully gives birth to twins.

A woman in her late 50s recently gave birth successfully to a baby boy weighing 2.9kg and a baby girl weighing 2.4kg at Hanoi Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital.

On April 7th, Hanoi Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital announced that they had successfully performed a cesarean section on a 56-year-old woman carrying twins.

At the age of 56, when many people are enjoying a peaceful life with their children and grandchildren, Mrs. TO (Hanoi) is embarking on the journey of motherhood once again.

Dr. Ha Cam Thuong, Deputy Head of the Voluntary Obstetrics Department at Hanoi Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital, who directly monitored the pregnancy, said that the pregnant woman carrying twins through in-vitro fertilization (IVF) had a history of previous cesarean section and gestational diabetes, requiring her to take insulin daily as prescribed by her doctor.

Throughout the pregnancy, every indicator was monitored, every worry was listened to, so that trust gradually grew with each development of the two children.

On the afternoon of April 6th, when the pregnancy reached its 38th week, the expectant mother went into labor and was admitted to the hospital for a cesarean section.

Despite the inherent risks of the surgery, particularly the difficulty in administering anesthesia, the team, with their experience and seamless coordination, safely delivered both babies.

A baby boy weighing 2.9kg and a baby girl weighing 2.4kg, both are healthy and have good reflexes. After the surgery, the mother's health is stable, and the two babies are receiving attentive care.

Doctors advise that pregnancy after age 50 can pose many risks to both mother and baby. However, giving birth and becoming a mother is a right and a natural calling for every woman.

Therefore, if a woman becomes pregnant at an older age, she needs better care and specific information about common pregnancy complications in order to prevent and address potential risks.

At the same time, the pregnancy must be closely monitored and managed at a specialized medical facility with a team of experienced doctors to ensure the safety of both mother and child.
