Fuel businesses have proactively prepared their supply chains, upgraded their technical infrastructure, and intensified communication efforts with consumers to be ready for the new roadmap.
By May 27th, many gas stations in Hanoi had switched to selling E10 gasoline. At Petrolimex Station No. 14 on Thuy Khue Street, all pumps were selling E10 gasoline. Station manager Tran Ngoc Anh said that the number of customers buying gasoline remained stable. Mr. Lai Van Tam from Tay Ho ward shared: “Seeing the information that E10 gasoline is environmentally friendly, I wanted to try it. Moreover, the price of this type of gasoline is lower than some older types of gasoline, helping to save costs.”
According to the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade, more than 400 gasoline stations in the city have reviewed and standardized their storage tanks, pumps, and technical procedures to meet the standards for selling E10 gasoline. Deputy Head of the Hanoi Market Management Department, Kieu Dinh Canh, stated that from June 1st, market management forces will intensify inspections and monitoring of the origin and quality of gasoline, and strictly handle violations related to type, quality, measurement, or unauthorized cessation of sales that destabilize the market.
Fuel businesses in Lang Son province have also completed the conversion of their systems to sell E10 gasoline. Petrolimex Lang Son introduced E10 gasoline to the market at the end of April. Mr. Nong Van Hon, Head of the Business Department of the company, said: “By May 8th, all Petrolimex fuel stations in Lang Son had switched to selling E10 gasoline.” Petrolimex Lang Son currently has 40 gas stations, meeting about 45% of the province's fuel needs. Other fuel businesses in the area have also completed the conversion of their systems to sell E10 gasoline. Mr. Hoang Minh Tam (Ky Lua ward) said that after using E10 gasoline for a while, he found his vehicle to operate normally and that switching to an environmentally friendly fuel was reasonable.
In the southern region, the Nha Be Petroleum Depot, a subsidiary of Petrolimex Saigon, has been granted a certificate of registration for its E10 RON95-V gasoline blending facility, effective from May 12, 2026. Mr. Pham Anh Tuan, Director of Petrolimex Saigon, stated: “The company’s blending capacity currently reaches approximately 10 million liters per day, sufficient to meet the consumption needs of the Southeast region. In early 2027, the company will continue to increase capacity to meet market growth.” Since August 2025, Petrolimex Saigon has been piloting E10 gasoline sales at 41 stores and has not received any negative feedback regarding quality. By May 25th, the company had completed the simultaneous rollout of E10 gasoline at all 138 stores in its system. Currently, the company offers two products simultaneously: E10 RON95-V and E10 RON95-III, meeting the diverse needs of customers.
The Petrolimex system in An Giang province has also basically completed preparations to switch to selling E10 gasoline from June 1st. Mr. Dang Hong Toan, Chairman of the Board of Members of Kien Giang Petroleum Company, said that the supply is being stably coordinated from large warehouses, and the tank system has been cleaned and upgraded to suit the characteristics of E10 gasoline. By May 29th at the latest, all conventional gasoline will be replaced with E10 gasoline throughout the system. The Petrolimex system in An Giang operates 120 directly owned stores and approximately 70 franchised stores.
The Department of Industry and Trade of An Giang province has requested relevant departments, agencies, and localities to strengthen inspections of bioethanol fuel quality, monitor business activities, and strictly handle violations. According to Nguyen Thanh Phong, Standing Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of An Giang province, the province will coordinate with functional forces to combat smuggling and trade fraud, while closely monitoring supply and demand and market prices to prevent hoarding and price speculation during the transition to E10 gasoline.

One of the biggest concerns for consumers is whether E10 gasoline affects engine performance and vehicle lifespan. The Ministry of Industry and Trade conducted a survey to assess the potential impact of E5 and E10 bioethanol on engine performance and lifespan. Assessments from Hanoi University of Science and Technology and the University of Transport showed that E5 and E10 gasoline have virtually no significant negative impact on the performance or lifespan of engine components in gasoline engines.
On May 26th, the Ministry of Industry and Trade reported on the feedback from the Vietnam Motorcycle Manufacturers Association (VAMM) and the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) regarding the compatibility of vehicles with E10 bioethanol fuel. According to VAMM's preliminary assessment, most models currently in production are compatible with E10 fuel. Models from Honda, Yamaha, Piaggio, and SYM are all compatible with E10 and require no technical modifications. As for Suzuki, most models are compatible, except for some models such as the Viva 110, Smash, Smash Revo, Shogun, GN125, Hayate, etc., which are awaiting confirmation.
Mr. Dao Cong Quyet, representing VAMA, stated that all car models currently in production are compatible with E10 gasoline. However, among models manufactured before 2006, some are incompatible and may experience operational problems when using it. Older models use carburetors or may utilize natural rubber or plastic materials that are not alcohol-resistant. Due to ethanol's strong cleaning properties and water-absorbing capacity, these parts may be damaged over time. VAMA recommends that owners of older vehicles proactively inspect and replace components such as gaskets and fuel lines at authorized dealerships to ensure safety when switching to E10 gasoline.
In the context of climate change, increasing pressure to reduce emissions, and the risk of fossil fuel depletion, the shift from using conventional gasoline to E10 bioethanol is a crucial step in our country's energy transition strategy. E10 not only reduces environmental pollution but also contributes to diversifying energy sources, reducing dependence on imports, and creating an outlet for the domestic ethanol production industry.
