According to information from Viet Duc Friendship Hospital, on the morning of July 22, due to the impact of storm Wipha causing prolonged heavy rain, Pa Thom suspension bridge ( Dien Bien ) suddenly collapsed, causing 3 people to fall into the river and suffer serious injuries.
At around 10am the same day, the victims were taken to Dien Bien Provincial General Hospital for emergency treatment in a state of serious multiple injuries.
Immediately after receiving the request for professional support, Viet Duc Friendship Hospital organized an online consultation chaired by Dr. Nguyen Manh Khanh - Deputy Director of the Hospital.
Of the 3 patients, LXT (43 years old, Dien Bien Phu City) was diagnosed with multiple traumatic shock, critical, and will be transferred to Viet Duc Friendship Hospital for continued treatment.
The remaining two patients, including VBL (34 years old, Dien Bien) with closed chest trauma and TKT (57 years old, Ha Dong, Hanoi ) with head trauma, were assigned to be monitored and treated on site and continued to receive remote professional support from doctors at Viet Duc Friendship Hospital.

As reported by Tuoi Tre Online , the incident occurred at 8am the same day, at the Pa Thom suspension bridge over the Nam Nua River, passing through Pa Xa Lao village. At the scene, some cables were broken on one side, and the bridge was tilted.
According to initial information at the time of the incident, the pickup truck carrying three people and a motorcyclist was crossing the bridge when the bridge surface began to tilt, causing the vehicle to lose balance.
The motorbike driver jumped off the vehicle and suffered minor injuries. The other three people on the pickup truck and the vehicle fell into the Nam Nua River.
