Drunk, young mother beats 1 year old child to death

This morning (May 18), the Criminal Police Department of Binh Duong Province temporarily detained Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao (born 1995, from An Giang) to investigate the act of murder.

According to the initial investigation, Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao works as a karaoke bar employee, living with her two children, NHGB (born 2020) and NHGA (born 2022) in a rented room in Tan Dinh ward, Ben Cat town, Binh Duong province.

At around 7:30 p.m. on May 16, Thao came home from work drunk. While lying on the floor sleeping, she heard baby NHGA crying.

At this time, Thao rocked the baby in the hammock to soothe him, but he did not stop crying. Angry, Thao hit him hard many times and continued to sleep. Baby A also stopped crying.

At around 11pm the same day, Thao woke up and found her child lying motionless, purple, and not breathing, so she asked someone to take her child to the emergency room, but the child had died.

According to the conclusion, baby NHGA died before being taken to the hospital in a state of multiple injuries.

After the incident, the police conducted an investigation. According to Thao’s statement, because she saw her child crying, she used her hand to hit her child without realizing that she had hit a vital spot. Thao also admitted that she had used crystal meth before.
