Sharing about her chance to play futsal, Thanh Hang said: “I learned about futsal when I was a first-year student at the University of Physical Education and Sports , majoring in Coaching. At that time, I participated in a futsal tournament for students and was fascinated from the first matches. No one in my family followed futsal, so I was a “special case, but I think my love for sports was kindled since I was little, when every afternoon after school I went to the field with my friends to play football”.
“In 2014, when I was 24 years old, I officially pursued a professional futsal career. A year later, I first played for the national team – I was 25 years old at that time. That was a very important milestone in my career,” the captain of the Vietnamese women’s futsal team shared.

As a player with many years of experience in women's futsal, Thanh Hang has participated in 12 international tournaments at club and national team level, scoring 7 goals, including the most recent goal in the match against the Philippines on May 9. The match that impressed the captain of the Vietnamese women's futsal team the most was the 2-1 victory to win the championship of the 2024 Southeast Asian Women's Futsal Championship held in the Philippines. "That was the first time we beat Thailand - a very strong opponent. That victory gave the whole team confidence to enter the Asian finals with high spirits."
Talking about the Asian Women's Futsal Finals this time, Thanh Hang affirmed: “We have prepared very seriously. The whole team has gone through many high-intensity training sessions, friendly matches with strong teams and made appropriate tactical adjustments to be ready to face continental opponents. Most importantly, the team spirit is very good, united and eager. Personally, I have also prepared thoroughly in terms of physical strength, technique and mentality. I am 200% ready to compete, because this is a great honor.”
“In the immediate future, I will focus all my efforts on helping the team win a ticket to the World Cup. In the future, I will take more advanced futsal courses. When I no longer compete, I want to switch to youth training – to contribute to building the future of Vietnamese futsal,” Thanh Hang expressed.

“My love for football is what first brought me to futsal, but it is the speed, tightness and discipline in futsal that has made me deeply attached. The feeling of handling the ball in a tight space, coordinating with teammates and scoring goals in a fast-paced play – it is truly special. I want to inspire the younger generation and develop myself through major tournaments,” shared Trinh Nguyen Thanh Hang, Captain of the Vietnam Women’s Futsal Team.
Tomorrow (May 11), the Vietnamese women's futsal team will have their final match in the group stage of the Asian Women's Futsal Finals against defending champion Iran at 4:00 p.m. (Vietnam time) at the Hohhot Sports Center (China).
