Tense competition in the first ever jet ski competition in Vietnam

The first day of the Jet Ski World Championship held for the first time in Vietnam witnessed intense competition between the racers. They fought each other for every meter of water to gain an advantage in the next racing day.

On March 23, at Thi Nai lagoon, Quy Nhon city (Binh Dinh province), the first racing day of the UIM-ABP Aquabike Championship 2024, the Grand Prix of Binh Dinh, took place. Today, 55 racers entered the qualifying and motorcycle race 1. In which, the qualifying race for the starting position (pole position) of all 4 categories is divided into 2 rounds. Qualifying round 1 (Q1) takes place in 15 minutes including all racers and qualifying round 2 (Q2) takes place in 10 minutes, including the 10 people with the best results from qualifying round 1 continue to compete for position.

The Ski Ladies GP1 category took place with the participation of 11 athletes. The female racers use a flexible jet ski, controlled mainly by the upper body, which can reach a speed of 130km/h. With this racing vehicle, the athlete races standing according to the regulations. The engine is 2 stroke/maximum 1300cc or 4 stroke/1620cc or turbo/maximum 1000cc. With an excellent performance in both rounds, Jasmiin Ypraus (23 years old, Estonia) won the Pole of the Ski Ladies category, although she had twice made the audience gasp for breath when falling during the Q2 race. Her best result was about 1 minute 55.719 seconds. The runner-up was racer Jessica Chanvanne (France) with a time of 1 minute 55.951 seconds. Third place went to Swedish rider Emma-Nellie Ortendahl with a time of 1 minute 58.525 seconds.

The Ski Division GP1 race took place with 21 racers competing. After 2 qualifying races Q1, Q2, the Pole winner of the Ski Division was determined. The top 3 were respectively Hungarian racer Kevin Reiterer with the best time of 1 minute 49.165 seconds; Quinten Bossche (Belgium) with the best time of 1 minute 49.755 seconds and finally French racer Jeremy Poret with the best time of 1 minute 49.765 seconds.

Right after the Ski Division is the Runabout GP1 racing category with fierce competition from 20 racers. This is considered the most prestigious category of the tournament. Athletes will use the fastest and most powerful jet ski on water, which can reach speeds of 170km/h. The Runabout GP1 racing category took place with the participation of 20 athletes. In this category, French racer Jeremy Perez won the Pole with a time of 1 minute 52.951 seconds, followed by Francois Medori with the best time of 1 minute 53.222 seconds and Marcus Jorgensen with 1 minute 54.797 seconds.

Finally, the Freestyle category. This is the most popular form. Athletes perform 180-degree, 360-degree, 540-degree jumps, and aerial acrobatics.

The racers competed for every point, creating drama right from the start. This helped the audience witness the exciting jet ski competition held for the first time in Vietnam.

Tomorrow (March 24) will be a day of competition with many surprises for many audiences in all categories. The competition will take place from about 10am - 4pm in each category and there will be an award ceremony.
