According to preliminary statistics, the total area of land recovery and clearance is about 780 hectares with an average clearance width of 30 m - 130 m depending on the location, including: Land used for railway construction; land within the protection area of railway works; clearance area of Lao Cai international transit station.

A total of about 828 households, 91 industrial production facilities and industrial clusters need to be relocated to implement the project.
To serve the project's site clearance, the Department of Construction has coordinated with relevant departments, branches, and localities to review, survey, and plan to arrange 20 resettlement sites.
Of which, 13 residential areas have been built, are eligible for arrangement or have approved detailed planning, and it is proposed to build 7 new planned residential areas, while combining on-site resettlement plans for small households (or residential clusters).

The resettlement plan is calculated to suit each locality, ensuring that people soon stabilize their lives and develop the economy . Specifically: Lao Cai city will arrange 4 resettlement sites for 146 households, Bao Thang district will arrange 6 resettlement sites for 436 households, Bao Yen district will arrange 3 resettlement sites for 60 households, Van Ban district will arrange 5 resettlement sites for 186 households.
