In Bac Lieu, a 62-year-old woman was stung by more than 50 wasps, leading to anaphylactic shock and hospitalization in critical condition.
On November 23, representatives from Thanh Vu Medic General Hospital in Bac Lieu reported that the patient was admitted to the emergency room in a drowsy, restless state with generalized edema and severe pain. Her family said she was clearing weeds when she was accidentally attacked by a swarm of bees.
Initial test results showed the patient had severe coagulation disorder, multiple organ damage, and a grade 2 anaphylactic reaction due to a bee sting, leading to respiratory failure. Doctors in the Intensive Care Unit combined multiple measures, including optimal medical treatment, hemodialysis, and continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), to save the patient.
After 24 hours, the woman's health improved, the pain and swelling at the sting site decreased. The multi-organ damage and blood clotting disorder were under control. The patient was conscious, able to eat, drink, and talk normally. She is expected to be discharged after 7 days of treatment.

According to Dr. Nguyen Van Huong, Deputy Head of the Intensive Care Unit, bee stings are one of the common accidents that occur in labor and production, especially in areas with many trees and bushes around.
Doctors strongly advise against taking bee stings lightly, as the venom of these insects, when accumulated in excessive amounts in the body, can lead to multiple organ failure and be life-threatening.
If you are stung by a bee and experience symptoms such as severe pain, generalized swelling, dizziness, difficulty breathing, nausea, blood in the urine, etc., you should go to a medical facility for timely diagnosis and treatment.
