Exciting Banh Giay Pounding Competition

As part of the activities to celebrate Independence Day 2025, on the morning of September 2, the Organizing Committee held a Banh Giay Pounding Contest in the Than Uyen Lake area.

The competition has 6 teams from the communes: Than Uyen, Khoen On, Muong Than, Muong Kim. In which, Than Uyen, Khoen On commune, each commune has 1 team; Muong Than, Muong Kim commune, each commune has 2 teams. Each team consists of 6 people (3 men, 3 women) regardless of age or gender. The competition lasts for 30 minutes. After pounding, the teams will mold the rice into 6 cakes, each with a diameter of 15cm. The teams prepare cooked sticky rice and necessary tools (pestle, mortar, dong leaves...) to perform their competition.

After a hard and active competition, with a spirit of solidarity, the teams completed their competition. Based on the scoring criteria such as: fragrant, delicious, smooth, chewy cakes; shortest time to pound and finish the cakes; most beautiful display of cakes on the tray, the Jury awarded the first prize to Than Uyen commune team, the second prize to Muong Kim 1 commune team, the third prize to Muong Kim 2 commune team and Muong Than 1 commune team.
