On the morning of September 2, the National Parade and March to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (A80) ended with a special art performance, where music , light and millions of hearts beat together in sacred national pride.
Vietnam has 4,000 years of history, a country of immortal feats, of resilient people who built and defended the country. The sound of the national festival drums today resounds from Bach Dang, Chi Lang, Dong Da to the autumn of the 1945 Revolution, when the whole nation rose up to gain independence. That echo awakens the pride in the history of building and defending the country, affirming the indomitable will and the eternal strength of solidarity of the Vietnamese people.
The symphony of national pride
Right after the Rally and Parade, 80 outstanding artists from all over the country sang together in an emotional performance.
Opening the show, young singer Thuy Tien sang “Tien Quan Ca”, followed by singer My Tam’s performance of “Giai Melody of Pride”, bringing a strong inspiration of patriotism.
In particular, when President Ho Chi Minh 's historic voice resounded in the Declaration of Independence on September 2, 1945, all forces solemnly turned toward the red flag with a yellow star, saluted the flag, and fell silent with emotion.
The artists performed a medley of about 15 minutes, combining many musical genres: traditional, folk, pop music... creating a multi-colored harmony. The 5 songs played at Ba Dinh Square included "I am a Vietnamese", "Proud Melody", "Rising Prosperous Vietnam", "Oh Vietnam! Let's Step to Glory" and "Marching Song".
Songs praising the Party, Uncle Ho, the Fatherland and the aspiration for a strong Vietnam were performed by many generations of artists: People's Artist Quoc Hung, Meritorious Artist Tan Nhan, Phuong Nga, Dao To Loan, Pham Khanh Ngoc... along with young singers such as My Tam, Hoa Minzy, Duc Phuc, Erik, Phuong My Chi, Duong Hoang Yen...
Notably, after My Tam’s performance, the singers sang together in “Bright Prosperity of Vietnam” – composed by young musician buitruonglinh. The rap part brought a fresh breath with lyrics praising the history and solidarity of 54 ethnic groups.
Singer Tung Duong and other artists continued with "Vietnam, let's step towards glory", sending a message to today's generation to follow their ancestors, contribute together, and together move the nation forward.
The highlight of the program is the harmonious blend of traditional culture and modern music, portraying the image of a Vietnam rich in identity but always expanding and integrating.
Artists moved when performing at Ba Dinh Square
Many artists could not hide their emotions when participating in the ceremony. Sharing with Lao Dong newspaper reporters, My Tam called this “a great honor at a sacred moment for the nation”.
Phuong My Chi said she was very honored and proud to be one of the very young artists to participate in the program.
As one of the performing artists, Hoang Bach confided: "This will definitely be one of the most memorable moments in my artistic life."
For the male singer, participating in the A80 mission is a recognition of his efforts over 20 years of working and the correct direction of his entire team since starting the project "Vietnamese Heart Words" more than 1 year ago.
The singer added: “I have never received an invitation to perform that made me so nervous. I recall a memory from more than 35 years ago, when I was a teenager and traveled from Nam Dinh (now Ninh Binh province) to Hanoi to perform at the National Children's Festival and then visited Uncle Ho's Mausoleum. After a long journey, with many challenges but also very interesting, now performing at such a sacred event, I am very happy and proud.”
Dr. Meritorious Artist Tan Nhan, Head of the Vocal Department of the Vietnam National Academy of Music, emphasized that the program blends traditional and contemporary music, bringing freshness and appeal while still fully conveying the spirit of solidarity, aspiration and national pride.
