The delegates reviewed the formation and development process since the first issue of Thanh Nien newspaper founded by leader Nguyen Ai Quoc in 1925 in Guangzhou (China). The stages of the Vietnamese revolutionary press have accompanied the Vietnamese people, contributing to great achievements in the cause of building and defending the country.
In Son La, revolutionary journalism appeared very early in the struggle movement of communist soldiers in Son La prison. The newspapers “Suoi Reo” and “Lac Muong” appeared in 1941 and 1945, symbolizing the spirit and integrity of the communists, represented by staunch communist journalists and soldiers such as To Hieu, Xuan Thuy, Tran Huy Lieu, Truong Chinh, etc.

Son La province has 3 local press and magazine agencies including: Son La Newspaper, Son La Provincial Radio and Television Station, Suoi Reo Magazine and 8 central press agencies that have established representative offices and assigned resident reporters.
In Son La, there are also 3 specialized groups under the Provincial Police, the Provincial Military Command, and the Provincial Border Guard Command with traditional and modern press forms such as print, radio, television, electronic newspapers and multimedia.

At the press meeting, Comrade Nguyen Duc Thanh, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of the Organization Committee of Son La Provincial Party Committee announced Decision No. 1462-QD/TU dated June 3, 2025 of the Provincial Party Executive Committee on merging and reorganizing Son La Newspaper with the Provincial Radio and Television Station into Son La Newspaper under the Provincial Party Committee.
Son La Newspaper officially started operating under the new model from July 1, 2025, as a public service unit under the Provincial Party Committee with 7 specialized departments, expected to have 114 civil servants.
Seven specialized departments include: Office; Secretary-Editor Department; Reporter Department; Electronics and Digital Content Department; Technology Department; Ethnic and Foreign Language Department; Arts and Entertainment Department.
Comrade Nguyen Duc Thanh announced the decisions of the Standing Committee of Son La Provincial Party Committee on the transfer and appointment of officials to leadership and management positions.
Accordingly, comrade La Minh Tuan, Editor-in-Chief of Son La Newspaper, was appointed to the position of Editor-in-Chief after the merger and reorganization; comrade Nguyen Truong Chinh, Director of the Provincial Radio and Television Station, was appointed to the position of Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Son La Newspaper.
Comrades Nguyen Thanh Hai, Le Huy Ngoan (Deputy Editors-in-Chief of Son La Newspaper); Dam Xuan Phuong (Deputy Director of Provincial Radio and Television Station) were appointed to hold the position of Deputy Editors-in-Chief of Son La Newspaper.
On this occasion, the Award Council of the Suoi Reo Press Award of Son La province in 2024-2025 awarded 5 A prizes, 10 B prizes, 15 C prizes and 25 Encouragement prizes to authors and groups of authors with award-winning works in various types of journalism.
The representative office of Nhan Dan Newspaper in Son La won the A prize in the electronic newspaper category with a series of articles about the current situation of unlicensed clinics in Son La.
On this occasion, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Son La province awarded Certificates of Merit to the authors and groups of authors who won the A prize of the Suoi Reo Journalism Award of Son La province in 2024-2025.
