While strolling around Triem Tay, I stumbled upon Hoi An Eco-Hub, the first zero-waste education and learning center operated as an independent social enterprise in Vietnam.
Hoi An Eco-Hub was founded by two pioneering social enterprises in zero-waste and sustainable development in Hoi An: Green Youth Collective (notable for its organic management and closed-loop farming systems) and Refillables Dong Day (notable for its reuse and refilling strategies and projects).

Here, visitors can interact and chat with people working for the community, aiming for a zero-waste environment, and experience cutting bars of soap collected from hotels in Hoi An for recycling and donation to the poor, students in disadvantaged areas, and hospitals.

Leaving Hoi An Eco-Hub, walking along a path lined with green bamboo, past houses and gardens fenced with tea bushes, one feels as if they are in another world , even though outside, the summer sun is scorching at 40 degrees Celsius. Triem Tay has developed into an eco-tourism garden area called "Triem Tay Countryside" with services such as: conference rooms, accommodation, restaurants, a local market, and a swimming pool.
Staying here, tourists can experience weaving mats with the locals and enjoy simple yet meticulously prepared dishes. At "Triem Tay Village," relaxing under rows of houses with wooden pillars and thatched roofs made entirely of bamboo and reeds—materials abundant in the Triem Tay region—creates a sense of closeness and brings people closer to nature.

The accommodation system is also entirely built and surrounded by carefully trimmed bamboo groves. The entire system of beds and rooms is meticulously designed from bamboo, making it environmentally friendly.
Rows of wooden houses with thatched roofs made of coconut leaves stand close together, inspired by bamboo and coconut trees, creating a gentle, cool, and friendly atmosphere. Notably, only a few sections of the roads in Triem Tay are lightly paved with concrete; the majority retain the pristine look of dirt roads, adding to the picturesque rural landscape…
