Sony is about to change its smartphone design.

Known for its conservative approach to smartphone design, Sony may soon be changing the look of its mid-range Xperia 10 VII line.

According to information from a phone case manufacturer on Amazon Japan, Sony's upcoming phone model will have a completely new design, although the changes aren't too drastic.

The Xperia 10 VII is expected to launch in October of this year.

Sony returns to a horizontal camera design after many years.

Specifically, the Xperia 10 VII may feature a horizontally oriented rear camera setup instead of the vertical dual-camera setup of previous versions. This could be considered a significant step forward for Sony, given that the previous five generations of Xperia 10 models showed almost no noticeable differences. Notably, the first-generation Xperia 10 was Sony's last smartphone with a horizontal camera arrangement, so this change could mark a return to the product line's roots.

Sony fans can rest assured that the front of the Xperia 10 VII appears to be unchanged. This isn't surprising, as most smartphones today have a similar design from the front, except for thinner bezels. This trend is also evident in newer models like the iPhone 16, Galaxy S25, and Pixel 10.
