According to the people of Hoang Truong commune, red jellyfish is not as popular as white jellyfish. Previously, red jellyfish only appeared in the seas of Hai Phong, Nam Dinh or Thai Binh . This type of jellyfish has a characteristic red color, clear as jelly. Its body is soft and succulent while its legs are tough and crunchy... The difference is that red jellyfish only appear seasonally, starting from mid-January to May of the lunar calendar every year.

Currently, finished red jellyfish is selling for about 500,000 VND/10 kg box of finished product.

Not only does it have eye-catching colors, red jellyfish is also considered by many to be one of the "famous" and favorite delicacies of summer.

Just bringing the boat to shore, with more than 200kg of jellyfish on board, fisherman Le Truong Que in Hoang Truong commune, Hoang Hoa district excitedly said that the boats that go fishing for jellyfish in the coastal area are mainly small rafts, with a fishing range of about 2-3 nautical miles from shore.

In addition to red jellyfish, this year fishermen in Hoang Truong commune are selling white jellyfish at a price of 20,000 VND/piece to processing facilities.

Every day, the boats here go out to sea to catch seafood from 1-3 am, and return to shore around 9-11 am. When there are many jellyfish in the sea, each boat catches about 2-4 tons at most, and when there are few, about 200-300kg.

Red jellyfish is processed into many delicious dishes such as: Jellyfish salad, jellyfish hotpot, jellyfish soup...

According to the owner of Thao jellyfish processing facility, Mr. Le Pham Thao, after catching and bringing the jellyfish to shore, we will go to the wharf to buy. Currently, the price of jellyfish is fluctuating around 20,000 VND/white jellyfish, sometimes the price is lower. Currently, the jellyfish fishing business here earns about 2-3 million VND per boat per day.

"All the fresh jellyfish caught are purchased by seafood purchasing and processing establishments, so fishermen can rest assured about the output," said Mr. Le Pham Thao.
