On October 11th, Mr. Mua A Thi, Head of Hang Pu Xi village, Xa Dung commune, Dien Bien province, was awarded the "Youth Living Beautifully" prize for rescuing 90 people from danger when a flash flood and landslide unexpectedly struck the village. After the flood, he worked with the villagers to overcome the consequences and actively rebuild their lives. Previously, he was awarded the First Class Labor Medal by the President of Vietnam in recognition of his courageous act of saving people.
Last year, at a relatively young age, Ma Seo Chu, the head of Kho Vang village ( Lao Cai province), became a "hero" when he helped 17 households with 115 people escape a devastating flood at the last minute.
Many young village leaders in the mountainous regions of Northern Vietnam have demonstrated a spirit of responsibility, closeness to the people, and exemplary conduct in movements for cultural and economic development and the construction of new rural areas. Despite their young age, they have built personal prestige through concrete and meaningful actions for the people in their villages. When their fellow villagers face danger, using their experience, they proactively guide and lead people to safety before natural disasters strike. Their actions are not only a beautiful and symbolic image, but also a testament to the strength of the grassroots, where community cohesion and a sense of responsibility are highly valued.
