Informing Thanh Nien newspaper about the musician's condition, Dr. Vu Dinh An, Head of the Intensive Care Unit ( Military Hospital 175 ), said: "Musician Pham Dang Khuong was admitted to the hospital on June 22, 2025, initially treated in the Occupational Diseases Department (A25) for Steven Johnson syndrome and type 2 diabetes. The disease progressed rapidly, manifesting as critical respiratory failure (ARDS), hypotension unresponsive to fluid resuscitation, and multiple organ failure. He was transferred to the Intensive Care and Toxicology Unit with a diagnosis of septic shock, pneumonia - ARDS, and multiple organ failure on a background of type 2 diabetes and Steven Johnson syndrome, with a very high risk of death. After consultation with the hospital and experts, intensive treatment was provided: mechanical ventilation according to ARDS network, continuous hemodialysis for many days, high-dose broad-spectrum antibiotics, even new generation antibiotics, antifungals, combined with intensive nutrition, fluid and electrolyte balance, and physical therapy and rehabilitation... up to this point." The patient is now breathing independently through a Shiley catheter (tracheostomy), is conscious, and can recognize family members. However, the patient remains emaciated and weakened after days of severe illness and requires continued intensive care and treatment, especially nutrition and rehabilitation. This can be done at home under the guidance of healthcare professionals or at occupational rehabilitation centers.

According to Pham Ho Huy Vu, the musician's son, in recent days the musician has been able to express his emotions of sadness and joy, sometimes becoming so moved by visitors that he wants to cry. His treatment room is near a window, so in the mornings family pulls back the curtains so the musician can sunbathe. He is recovering quite well and is aware of his surroundings.

Through Thanh Nien Newspaper , Mr. Pham Ho Huy Vu sent his sincere thanks to readers, colleagues, and everyone who loved musician Pham Dang Khuong: "During my father's serious illness, our family received so much care and attention from everyone that we don't know how to repay it. Thanks to those loving hearts, my father is recovering his health and will soon return to normal life, to continue composing many beautiful and new songs... contributing to the national arts and culture."
