Those are the familiar opening lyrics of the song "Continuing the story of peace " by musician Nguyen Van Chung. The song is creating a fever with over 5 billion views and listens on social networking platforms. But more importantly, the song spreads and strongly encourages patriotism in the young generation through a very young song.
Recently, at a seminar organized by Hanoi University, the song "Continuing the Peace Story" was performed with 3 different language translations. These were the English translation by teacher Mai Thanh Son, the Japanese translation by Dr. Nguyen Song Lan Anh and the Russian translation by Distinguished Teacher Le Duc Man. Musician Nguyen Van Chung was moved by these new versions and shared his hope that young people around the world and the Vietnamese community abroad could listen, feel and spread the message of peace.
Also recently, musician Nguyen Van Chung donated his musical manuscripts to the National Archives Center III (Department of Records and Archives, Ministry of the Interior). Among them are the handwritten manuscript of the song "Continuing the story of peace", a collection of children's music and his personal documents over the past 22 years of composing, typically the originals of some songs that have "made waves": "Vang trang khoc", "Chiec khan gio am", "Con duong mua", "Nhat ky cua me"...
For nearly 2 years, especially during the days when the whole country celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), the songs were presented like a wave and were especially included in exams for students from all over the country. For example, at Van Lam High School (Hung Yen), in the 12th grade Literature exam, the lyrics of the song were quoted: "Our ancestors fell down so that our future generations could exchange for peace" and students were asked to write an essay sharing their perspectives on what needs to be done to "continue the story of peace". Many other exams were also inspired by this song, asking students to present the value of peace, peace in the eyes of young people or the responsibility of young people today to be worthy of the sacrifice of their ancestors in the cause of protecting the Fatherland...
Musician Nguyen Van Chung, born in 1983, is famous for many hit songs in the youth music genre, songs about family and children. In the traditional and historical theme, perhaps "Continuing the story of peace" is his typical and lifelong song. According to him, 2 years ago, singer Duyen Quynh told him the story of her father and his comrades who bravely fought during the resistance war against America, and in peacetime, clearly showed the qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers". Moved, he sat in front of the piano and composed, from 11 pm to morning he completed it, with the concluding line "The sun shines brightly, the national flag flutters" as if opening up a new, heroic and bright future. The song was sung first by Duyen Quynh and then by many other singers and fans, spreading the spirit of "Continuing the story of peace".
