New vitality in Van Lang

Việt NamViệt Nam19/07/2024

In recent years, the appearance of Van Lang commune (Ha Hoa district) has improved significantly with wide, smooth asphalt and concrete roads, sturdy and spacious houses, and a peaceful, developing rural landscape. This achievement is thanks to the local government's ability to leverage the leading role of the grassroots Party organization and the pioneering and exemplary conduct of cadres and Party members, using these as a foundation for leading and directing socio -economic development in the locality.

New vitality in Van Lang

The winter squash cultivation model in Van Lang commune provides a stable income for many local households, contributing to sustainable poverty reduction.

Located in the southwest of Ha Hoa district, Van Lang commune currently has a total natural land area of 1,099.12 hectares, with over 4,500 inhabitants and more than 1,100 households in 5 residential areas. Comrade Bui Tien Dung, Secretary of the Commune Party Committee, stated: “Although there are still many difficulties, in recent times, the Commune Party Committee and government have always identified economic development as a key role in the local renewal process. The Commune Party Committee has led and directed the development of specialized resolutions, and the Commune People's Committee has developed plans with important policies and solutions to implement socio-economic development tasks, helping the people achieve sustainable poverty reduction.”

To put the Party's resolution into practice, the commune has focused on investing in infrastructure development, especially in transportation and irrigation; mobilizing the people to change the structure of crops and livestock; applying scientific and technological advancements to production; and creating conditions for people to access capital for economic development... As a result, the economic structure has undergone positive changes.

Currently, in addition to food production, the commune focuses on developing livestock farming, raising hundreds of buffalo and cattle; and over 33,000 pigs and poultry. Beekeeping, rabbit farming, and guinea pig farming models provide stable income, averaging 100-300 million VND per year. Furthermore, households have constructed ponds and rice fields to cultivate aquatic products, covering a total area of 46 hectares.

With the support and encouragement of the local government, such as creating favorable conditions for households to expand production scale and access loan capital to develop production and increase family income, service industries and small-scale handicraft production continue to be maintained.

Currently, the commune has 18 operating businesses, including 10 private enterprises operating in the industrial and construction sectors; 85 establishments producing and processing mechanical products, household furniture, garments, and food processing; and over 100 households providing services...

These activities have remained stable, producing many products to meet the needs of the people, attracting over 500 workers, ensuring jobs and stable incomes of 7-9 million VND/person/month.

The rational production organization, economic structure, and other revenue sources have contributed to the increasing annual growth rate of the commune's production value. The average total grain production reaches over 900 tons/year. The average per capita food production is 430 kg/person/year. The average income is 49 million VND/person/year. In 2023, the percentage of near-poor households in the commune was 3.02%, a decrease of 0.87% compared to the same period; the percentage of poor households was 6.8%, a decrease of 0.8% compared to the same period.

With economic development and improved living standards, the people have become more united, trusting, and working together with the government to build a new life. Mr. Pham Van Phu from Zone 4 shared: “Previously, many roads in the area were difficult to travel on, muddy in the rain and dusty in the sun. In recent years, when the government and people jointly built rural roads, I immediately supported it because I believe that wherever there are good roads, there will be development and the lives of the people will be improved.”

The positive results that Van Lang has achieved in the past have created momentum and favorable conditions for the commune to continue developing sustainably on the path of industrialization and modernization of agriculture and rural areas.
