With students at the center and teachers as the inspiration, the program organizes many local promotion activities, through training, providing administrators and teachers with the necessary support to impart valuable knowledge to students.
Raising awareness and action to protect water resources
In parallel with production and business, Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam always focuses on activities associated with the core value of "Contributing back to society". Notably, the program "Mizuiku - I love clean water" was initiated in 2015. Vietnam is the first country outside of Japan to implement the program, educating from awareness to action to protect and save water resources for primary school students, through classes in schools, nature experiences in national parks, clean water projects to help increase access to clean water and improve school health.
On May 9, a training program to strengthen the capacity of managers and teachers to effectively implementeducational content on saving and protecting water resources was held at the Department of Education and Training of Can Tho City. More than 100 primary school teachers and staff in Can Tho City participated in professional training and skills strengthening. The staff and teachers were instructed on how to use teaching materials on saving and protecting water resources for primary schools.

Ms. Ngo Nu Huyen Trang, Director of Sustainable Development and Communications shared: “With more than 30 years of presence and development in Vietnam, Suntory PepsiCo has not only maintained its leading position in the beverage industry, but also pioneered in promoting sustainable development activities. Through the power of education, the company aims to build the Mizuiku program to not only educate about water resources but also for water resources.”
Nationwide, the "Mizuiku - I love clean water" program initiated by Suntory PepsiCo has become a highlight in water resource protection education activities. In 2023, a strategic cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Training opened a new page for the program. The Mizuiku Document Set with effective educational methods and creative teaching content was compiled and approved, officially becoming a guide for organizing teaching and learning about water resources in the main curriculum for primary schools nationwide. Over the 10-year journey in Vietnam, Mizuiku has reached nearly 1 million students, 16,000 teachers, and built and renovated 186 clean water facilities across 63 provinces and cities.
Journey to create positive impacts for the environment and community
As a company closely associated with water resources, Suntory PepsiCo has implemented many initiatives to use water resources effectively - conserving and regenerating water resources as well as promoting education to ensure the sustainability of water resources for future generations. For optimizing the use of water in factories, the company applies water recycling processes, increasingly reducing the amount of water used for production.
Furthermore, the company actively regenerates and restores water resources to nature through greening upstream forests nationwide. The program “Conserving Water Resources - For a Green Vietnam” (“Water of Life”) is implemented by Suntory PepsiCo in partnership with the public-private partnership of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (now the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment) to develop sustainable forests with multiple objectives, conserving water resources, absorbing carbon and improving people’s livelihoods.
The Department of Forestry, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (now the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment) and Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in sustainable forest development, aiming at water conservation and carbon sequestration. |
In addition, Suntory PepsiCo always strives to improve product packaging to be more environmentally friendly, being the first beverage company in Vietnam to launch a product with packaging made from 100% recycled plastic (Pepsi), a bottled water product with the lightest packaging in the global system (Aquafina). In 2023, the company reduced about 5,800 tons of virgin plastic, equivalent to reducing 23,000 tons of CO2 into the environment.
