Introduction: The photo “Friendship of Young H'Mong Boys” was taken at Lung Cam Cultural Village, Meo Vac, Ha Giang in the spring of 2024. Upon entering the village, I happened to come across seven (7) boys playing at the main gate, while tourists were jostling to get to Pao's House - which was once the setting of the movie Pao's Story. These young H'mong boys, each holding a bamboo musical instrument such as a flute, mouth organ, etc., looked like a real band. They were resting after their daily work serving tourists visiting the village. What caught my attention was their relaxed demeanor, lively conversations, carefree laughter, and the stories these friends were sharing with each other, reflected in their innocent smiles. I think that in the future, the smiles reflected in this photograph will always remind them of their past childhood and faded innocence, as each forged their own path to becoming a grown man. But one thing will remain constant: they will always return to this moment, this place – where they shared the most hearty laughter, the funniest stories, the vibrant, inseparable friendship… forever preserved in this moment.
