The atmosphere of sadness and mourning surrounded the small house of Ms. Thuong's family. "My husband just passed away about 2 months ago from leukemia, after only discovering the disease and being treated for nearly half a month. My father-in-law also just asked to be discharged from the hospital to return home for treatment because he could not afford chemotherapy and radiotherapy. My mother-in-law's heart disease became worse but she still had to help me take care of the house. At every meal, looking at my husband's portrait, the family members' hearts ached even more. His sudden passing left the whole family with great pain and loss," Ms. Tran Thi Thuong choked.

“A few weeks ago, the doctor at Hue Central Hospital advised me to have radiotherapy, but I felt my health was getting worse, it was difficult to respond to the medication, and especially the cost of treatment was beyond my family’s ability, so I asked to go home and voluntarily receive treatment with medication as long as I could,” said Mr. Vo Tuan (73 years old), Ms. Thuong’s father-in-law, in despair.

Recently, suffering from many misfortunes, Ms. Thuong's mother-in-law's heart failure, Duong Thi Duoc (74 years old), has become increasingly severe, requiring regular check-ups. In addition, her sister-in-law, Vo Thi Chung (44 years old), is deaf and mute from birth, and is in poor health, so she has to stay in one place and needs someone to take care of her.

Although the pain has not subsided, Ms. Thuong still tries to be strong to continue to bear the burden. Currently, the family's economy is exhausted, and Ms. Thuong herself does not have a stable job. The journey of treating and providing medicine for her parents-in-law, taking care of her sister-in-law and taking care of her young children who are still in school will still be full of hardships and uncertainties...
