On April 29, the Thua Thien Hue Provincial Police announced that authorities are coordinating to investigate the case of a driver who violated traffic regulations by crashing his vehicle into a traffic police officer.
The incident occurred at approximately 1:53 PM on April 28th, at kilometer 800+500 on National Highway 1A, in the section passing through Phong Dien town. At that time, a traffic control patrol team from the Traffic Police Department spotted a motorcycle, license plate 75H1-750.60, traveling in the north-south direction, violating the speed limit.
Lieutenant Colonel Hoang Anh Cong Minh signaled the vehicle to stop for inspection, but the driver, Pham Ngoc An (23 years old, residing in Vinh Ha, Phu Vang, Thua Thien Hue province), refused to comply. The driver then drove straight into Lieutenant Colonel Minh, causing him to fall to the ground and sustain injuries.

Following the incident, Lieutenant Colonel Minh was taken to Hue Central Hospital for emergency treatment. The driver sustained minor injuries. Tests revealed that he did not have a blood alcohol level.
According to the Thua Thien Hue Provincial Police, during the April 30th - May 1st holiday and the peak summer tourism season of 2024, the provincial traffic police force, in coordination with police units and localities, mobilized maximum personnel and resources to organize patrols, inspections, and handle violations of traffic safety regulations.
Authorities will focus on handling violations related to alcohol levels, speeding, oversized and overloaded vehicles, etc., with the motto "no exceptions, no forbidden zones".
