The girl's family said that two days ago, she went swimming with her father at Hon Chong beach (Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa province) and was stung by a jellyfish without realizing it. By the time her father discovered her and brought her ashore, both of her arms were already black and bruised. The family rushed her to the hospital for emergency treatment.
After receiving emergency treatment, the child regained consciousness, had a strong pulse, but still had a slight fever, and the wound on the arm was swollen.
Little girl suffers severe bruising on both arms from jellyfish sting.
Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Huy, Head of the Pediatrics Department at Khanh Hoa Provincial General Hospital, advises that when a child is stung by a jellyfish, they should be taken away from the area where the jellyfish are present, and the wound should be quickly washed to remove the toxins.
In severe cases, symptoms such as anaphylactic shock, chills, flushing, itchy red skin rash, nasal congestion, difficulty breathing, abdominal pain, and diarrhea appear, and the patient needs to be taken to the hospital immediately. Without prompt treatment, the patient may die.
