Accordingly, the five strategic goals of the ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP) include:

1. Focus on maintaining peace , independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, protecting all social achievements that have been achieved.

2. Build Cambodia into a prosperous, strong, democratic, free, multi-party nation based on the rule of law with a sustainable and equitable economy . Thereby ensuring that the people have a prosperous and happy life, democracy, peace, security and safety.

3. Continue to make greater efforts to build an effective, inclusive and sustainable social security system. The aim is to protect people from economic risks, public health risks and vulnerabilities arising from changes in living and working conditions.

5. Continue to promote the implementation of the strategy “Cambodia is free of bombs and mines by 2025” and minimize the number of bombs and mines and unexploded ordnance after the war during this term.

6. Continue to implement an independent foreign policy, build friendly relations and good cooperation between Cambodia and countries around the world and international organizations; participate and actively contribute to peace, stability, security and prosperity in the region and the world.

Previously, on the morning of August 7, Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni issued a Royal Decree appointing Dr. Hun Manet as Prime Minister of the Royal Government of Cambodia for the 2023-2028 term.

The 7th National Assembly of Cambodia is expected to convene its first session on August 21 and the parliamentarians will be sworn in that evening. On August 22, the new National Assembly will be officially established, and the new Prime Minister and cabinet will come into operation.
