Midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai insists Liverpool want to win but Brighton are a tough opponent.
The AMEX Stadium team still hopes to compete for a place in the Top 8, combined with a number of other necessary and sufficient conditions (including Chelsea winning the Conference League but not reaching the top 5 of the Premier League) to be able to win a place in the Conference League next season.
Dominik Szoboszlai played an important role in Liverpool's two goals
Liverpool's Hungarian star was not far from the truth, because in the 9th minute, the away team opened the score.
It started from a long pass from Szoboszlai himself. Mohamed Salah and Conor Bradley joined in the attack to bring the ball to Harvey Elliott, who fired a close-range shot into the net.

Brighton, after losing control of the game in the early minutes, gradually regained control of the ball. The home team poured forward to attack and in the 32nd minute, two 20-year-old players, Brajan Gruda and Yasin Ayari, both broke Liverpool's offside trap to score the equalizer.

Liverpool were not satisfied and just before the end of the first half, Harvey Elliott assisted Dominik Szoboszlai to score a beautiful goal, putting "The Kop" ahead 2-1. There were many opportunities for Liverpool to widen the gap but Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo regrettably missed them one after another in the beginning of the second half.
Danny Welbeck continues impressive season with Brighton
On the opposite side of the field, goalkeeper Alisson struggled to block Danny Welbeck's shot in the 59th minute.
Ten minutes later, Welbeck forced Alisson to push the ball away, allowing Japanese winger Kaoru Mitoma to score his 10th goal of the season. 2-2 to Brighton and the game at the AMEX Stadium showed no signs of slowing down.

Mitoma scored after just four minutes on the pitch and in the 85th minute, other home team substitutes continued to contribute. Substitute Matt O'Riley crossed from the left wing for Jack Hinshelwood to tap the ball in from close range.

Brighton took a 3-2 lead and that was the final score, helping Fabian Hurzeler's team temporarily take 8th place, 3 points ahead of Brentford. Liverpool lost points for the third consecutive match since winning the championship early.
