Farmers in Hau Giang province have been actively planting summer-autumn rice crops in accordance with the recommendations of the provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment.
Following the directives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, the Hau Giang Department of Agriculture and Environment has developed a plan and is intensifying efforts to encourage farmers to sow summer-autumn rice in many fields throughout the province. Specifically, the entire province has sown over 15,000 hectares (out of a planned 73,000 hectares) of summer-autumn rice. The rice crops are mainly in the seedling stage, with over 500 hectares in Chau Thanh A district in the tillering stage. Regarding pests and diseases affecting summer-autumn rice, the main pests are golden apple snails and rats, but the infestation rate is low, and farmers are proactively taking preventive measures. Currently, in many rice fields across the province, after harvesting the winter-spring rice crop, farmers are urgently cleaning their fields to sow summer-autumn rice, therefore the area of rice sown will increase significantly in the coming time.
