Strengthening control of goods during Tet

Việt NamViệt Nam26/01/2024

Before, during and after Tet, the speed of goods circulation always increases sharply because people have high demand for Tet shopping. This is also the time when smugglers, commercial fraudsters and counterfeit goods are mixed in and operate. In order to keep the market stable, develop healthily and protect consumer rights, the market management force has increased inspection and supervision of goods in circulation.

Market management forces inspect the business activities of electronics and refrigeration at Dinh Dan electronics center, Thai Binh city.

There is still half a month left until the Lunar New Year 2024, but many people have started shopping for essential goods for the holiday.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Tham, Minh Quang commune (Vu Thu) shared: My family took the opportunity to buy candy, sugar, fish sauce, rice, vermicelli, paper money, incense... things that can be preserved for a long time to prepare for Tet. Going shopping early allows us to be proactive in household chores and not have to worry about crowded shopping near Tet.

Not only Mrs. Tham, in recent years many people tend to shop early for Tet, so from the beginning of December, commercial and service activities in the province began to become bustling and increased sharply in the days before Tet.

Ms. Vu Thi Duyen, owner of Phuong Anh store in Thong Nhat commune (Hung Ha) said: Since the beginning of January, many people in the commune and neighboring areas have come to buy mainly essential items for Tet. Especially on weekends, the number of people coming to buy is high, the store's revenue reaches 50 - 70 million VND/day.

Grasping the increasing consumer demand, supermarkets and stores proactively prepare goods and boost consumption.

Mr. Nguyen Van Khai, Director of Phu Son Petroleum Company Limited, owner of Phu Son Mart, Hung Nhan town (Hung Ha) said: To serve the Tet market, we have imported goods in large quantities, with a variety of about 15,000 items of all kinds; in which we prioritize importing high-quality Vietnamese goods, with prices suitable for people's spending conditions. In addition to preparing enough essential goods to meet people's needs, Phu Son Mart has registered with the Department of Industry and Trade to participate in the market stabilization sales program and we are committed to keeping prices stable before, during and after Tet.

Supermarkets and stores prepare abundant supplies of goods to serve people shopping during Tet.

Currently, the market supply of goods is relatively abundant, making it convenient for people to shop for Tet. However, the large variety of goods also makes people confused when choosing to shop.

Mr. Le Thanh Hung, Dong Hoa commune (Thai Binh city) said: Every year during Tet, I go to buy candy, some wine for my brothers and children to gather around the dinner table to welcome the new year. I myself also want to buy products of good quality and safe for health, but when I go to the stores, I don't know which one to choose because there are many different designs and prices and I can't distinguish between real and fake goods. In general, when we go shopping, we only know how to put our trust in the store. We hope that the authorities will closely inspect and monitor to prevent the circulation of smuggled and poor quality goods, causing damage to consumers.

In order to protect consumer rights and maintain market stability, from the beginning of December 2023 to now, functional departments and branches have organized a peak period of inspection and handling of violations related to smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and food safety. Of which, the market management force alone inspected 120 cases, detected and handled 82 violations, and collected nearly 200 million VND for the state budget. The main violations were trading in goods of unknown origin, violating standards, measurements, quality, product labels, violating food safety regulations, in the fields of health , prices, and e-commerce.

Mr. Nguyen Thai Hung, Deputy Director of the Provincial Market Management Department, said: We are continuing to direct and mobilize forces to focus on inspecting and monitoring the circulation of goods in the area, while coordinating with functional forces to fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods, not allowing complications to arise in the area. The market management force will go deeper into inspecting and handling violations in a number of fields and industries such as industrial food, gasoline, clothing, electronics, refrigeration... items with high consumer demand during Tet so that people can shop with peace of mind and celebrate Tet happily.

People's demand for Tet shopping increases even more in the days leading up to the Lunar New Year 2024.
