Strengthening traffic safety education management at high school level

Attending the workshop were representatives of units under the Ministry of Education and Training, experts and 120 managers and officers in charge of traffic safety education content in high schools in 20 provinces and cities.

Representatives of the Ministry of Education and Training, the National Traffic Safety Committee, and Honda Vietnam Company chaired the conference.

As an activity within the framework of the Joint Program "Traffic Safety Education for Students" for the period 2023-2026 between the National Traffic Safety Committee, the Ministry of Education and Training and Honda Vietnam Company, the workshop was organized with the aim of improving the capacity of managers in propaganda, dissemination and education of laws on traffic safety and order, safe traffic participation skills and building traffic culture in schools.

Speaking at the workshop, Director of the Department of Political Education and Student Affairs Tran Van Dat said: Traffic safety is a global issue. In Vietnam, many solutions have been proposed to ensure traffic safety, especially for students. The country currently has more than 20 million students, so educating awareness and ensuring traffic safety in schools is extremely necessary and urgent.

Up to now, traffic safety education has been included in the curriculum at all levels from kindergarten to university in many forms and activities organized flexibly. The Ministry of Education and Training has organized many forums to propagate and disseminate education to raise awareness of traffic safety laws for teachers, staff, students and pupils at schools.

However, besides the effectiveness, the work of ensuring traffic safety in schools still has many limitations and shortcomings and needs to be discussed to have more practical and effective solutions.

At the workshop, delegates shared about the current situation and situation of ensuring traffic order and safety; conveyed the message about the role and responsibility of education managers in traffic safety training in schools; shared about the plan to complete traffic safety tasks assigned to the education sector. At the same time, introduced the program to foster legal knowledge and skills to safely control motorbikes and electric motorbikes for students at high schools.

Sharing at the workshop, a representative of the Department of Education and Training of Tuyen Quang province said: To achieve effectiveness in traffic safety education at the high school level, every year, school principals direct the development of a traffic safety propaganda plan in conjunction with the school's educational development plan. This plan is not simply about organizing extracurricular activities, but needs to be integrated into the main curriculum and career-oriented experiential education activities. Traffic safety education content needs to be flexibly adjusted to suit the characteristics of each grade and each stage of students' psychological development.

Ms. Tran Thi Kim Nhan, Head of the Department of Political Ideology and Professional and Continuing Education, Quang Ngai Department of Education and Training, said: In Quang Ngai province, thanks to the synchronous participation of all levels and sectors of the province, and close coordination with the Department of Education and Training, the work of traffic safety management and education in schools has been effectively implemented and is one of the most positive changes in recent times.

In addition to promoting traffic safety propaganda, the Department of Education and Training of Quang Ngai has coordinated with relevant units to implement a model of establishing small groups so that schools can directly exchange data and update daily information on traffic safety of students with parents.

From the opinions of localities, educational institutions, the Ministry of Education and Training, the National Traffic Safety Committee, Honda Vietnam Company will record and synthesize to have supplements and adjustments in the implementation of strengthening traffic safety education management at the high school level in the coming time.
