More trains running on HCMC - Hanoi route to serve summer peak season

Vietnam Railways Corporation has just decided to run more trains on the Ho Chi Minh City - Hanoi route to meet the increasing travel demand of people during the peak summer season of 2025.

Specifically, train SE24 from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi runs on odd days from June 15 to July 31. Train SE23 from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City also runs on odd days from June 17 to August 1.

Thus, currently on the North-South railway line, there are 8 pairs of trains running the route from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi and vice versa, including 5 regular pairs SE1/2, SE3/4, SE5/6, SE7/8, SE11/12 and 2 additional pairs SE9/10, SE23/24.

Information from train ticket agents shows that trains on the Ho Chi Minh City - Hanoi route and short-distance trains from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City to tourist destinations on the North - South railway route such as Nghe An, Quang Binh , Hue, Da Nang, Khanh Hoa... are selling out very quickly.

This year, the railway has attracted many tourists because the ticket prices are more competitive than those of airlines, in the context of high airfares and very few cheap tickets. In addition, the railway industry has also upgraded its carriages and service quality to meet higher standards.

Train tickets for the entire Ho Chi Minh City - Hanoi route currently have many price levels, depending on the quality of service of each train for people to choose from. In particular, the highest price is for a 4-berth sleeper cabin, priced from 1.5 million VND/ticket to 3.7 million VND/ticket; a 6-berth sleeper cabin costs from 1.2 to 1.457 million VND/ticket; a soft seat with air conditioning costs around 1 million VND/ticket.

This year, the railway industry is applying a number of preferential policies for Thong Nhat trains. Individual passengers who buy tickets early will receive a 5% discount when buying tickets 20-39 days before departure; a 10% discount if buying 40 days or more in advance.

This offer is valid for journeys of 300-900km depending on the train, not applicable for 4-berth sleeper cabins on SE3 and SNT1/SNT2 trains. For groups of 20 or more, the discount depends on the group size and time of booking.
