Water hyacinth grows naturally on rivers, canals and streams in the freshwater area of ​​Ca Mau .

After harvesting, water hyacinth is dried, processed and then woven into products such as: baskets, trays, gift boxes, carpets, interior decorations... With the advantages of being light, durable, environmentally friendly and rustic, natural, water hyacinth products are very popular in domestic and foreign markets.

Ms. Le Thi Hong Phuong, Head of the Women's Association, Head of the Disabled Women's Club of Nguyen Hue Hamlet , Bien Bach Commune (middle), helps many women, especially disabled women, to have jobs and increase their income from handicrafts, including weaving water hyacinth.

In particular, water hyacinth weaving has opened up job opportunities for many rural women. Women can take advantage of their free time to participate in production at home, both earning extra income and contributing to preserving traditional crafts . On average, each worker earns 3-5 million VND/month, helping to significantly improve family life.
