Putting on a "new look" to welcome tourism in 2024

In just about a month, the 2024 Cua Lo tourism festival will take place. To prepare for this event, the People's Committee of Cua Lo Town, Nghe An Province has carried out urban beautification work.

Event - Creating a — The project to upgrade and expand Binh Minh Street, Cua Lo Town has completed 90% of the work.

The project to upgrade and expand Binh Minh Street is one of the key projects of Cua Lo Town because this is the largest road, the tourist face of the coastal city. This route has an investment scope of more than 7.5km in length with a total cost of 310 billion VND.

Mr. Doan Van Lam, Director of the Cua Lo Town Project Management Board, said that the project to upgrade and expand Binh Minh Street will start construction in June 2022. To date, 90% of the work has been completed. Workers are focusing on paving sidewalks, upgrading drainage ditches, and electrical systems...

“This project, when completed, will partly relieve the congestion in Cua Lo during the annual beach tourism season. At the same time, it will create more ventilation and beauty, contributing to creating a highlight for the common space of Cua Lo beach and Cua Lo town,” said Mr. Lam.

According to the town's plan, from 2023 to 2025, the People's Committee of Cua Lo town will invest in implementing 15 technical infrastructure projects, such as: Lighting, sidewalks of Duong Thanh street; Sidewalks, lighting on Dinh Hong Phien street; Sidewalks, lighting on 12A - Tay Son street; Roads, ditches, lighting, sidewalks of Trinh Cong Son street; Lighting on fishbone street from Binh Minh street to street 2....

Replacing the tree system on Sao Nam Street; planting new trees on Mai Thuc Loan Street; planting new trees on crossroad No. 13... with an estimated budget of 10.2 billion VND.

On the inner city roads at this time, it is easy to see groups of workers preparing the soil to plant new varieties of flowers. In just 1 month, the flowers can bloom brilliantly, creating countless check-in points for tourists in the upcoming tourist season.

The trees in Cua Lo town are also taken care of, pruned, shaped by workers... creating a green, clean, beautiful, and fresh Cua Lo coastal town. This is an activity to prepare for the Cua Lo Sea Chrysanthemum Festival in 2024. This event is an important highlight to kick off the 2024 tourism year.

Series of projects bring new vitality to Cua Lo

In addition, to serve the people and tourists during the 2024 tourist season, many projects are currently being implemented in Cua Lo town. Among them, the project to build a sea dike with a total construction investment length of 4.3km is one of the important projects.

The above project is invested by Nghe An Department of Tourism and approved by Nghe An Provincial People's Committee on December 3, 2020. The level 4 embankment project can withstand level 10 storms and rising sea levels.

The length of the invested dike (sea embankment) is more than 4.3km. The starting point is determined to be Km0+00 at the entrance to Lan Chau island, Thu Thuy ward and the end point is Km5+451.99, adjacent to the fence of Vinpearl - Cua Hoi tourist area, Nghi Hoa ward, Cua Lo town.

The embankment is designed and built in combination with a coastal walking path, not only to ensure landslide prevention but also to meet the needs of walking and ensuring safety for tourists at Cua Lo beach.

This project also builds 14 cross-roads, connecting Binh Minh Street to Cua Lo Beach promenade, more than 1.2km long and 4m wide. The total estimated construction value of this project is more than 123 billion VND, of which the loan capital from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) is nearly 112 billion VND and the counterpart capital is more than 11 billion VND.

During the storm season of previous years, the sea dike system in Cua Lo town was severely damaged, so the work of repairing and constructing a new dike encountered many difficulties. However, the investor and the construction unit working on this project still made great efforts to overcome difficulties to bring this project to the finish line on schedule.

Mr. Doan Tien Dung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Cua Lo Town, said that the important highlight that will change the face of Cua Lo coastal urban area in the coming years is that the People's Committee of the town has issued a decision approving the detailed construction plan at a scale of 1/500 for the park area east of Binh Minh Street in Nghi Huong, Nghi Thu and Thu Thuy wards.

Regarding the planning structure and architectural space organization, there are 5 areas: A, B, C, D, E. In terms of nature and function, these are coastal parks, swimming areas, sea tourism services, modern and classy culinary and entertainment areas, invested in and built completely according to international standards, serving tourists.

This new planning aims to build Cua Lo beach to meet the requirements: Modern, unique, identity, friendly and highly economically efficient; becoming one of the beautiful beaches of the North Central region, to attract tourists, entertainers and workers, contributing to promoting the socio-economic development of Cua Lo town and Nghe An province.

Currently, the town is attracting potential investors to build the planning project of the Eastern Forest Park of Binh Minh Street, the beach in a modern and civilized direction, and is also continuing to attract investors for key projects in the area such as: The project of the Complex of Hotels - Commercial Services and Luxury Villas and large-scale projects as a driving force for the development of Cua Lo tourism.

The representative of the People's Committee of Cua Lo Town added that in the past 2 years, when a series of trillion-dong infrastructure projects were continuously built and completed, the distance between neighboring localities and the coastal city of Cua Lo has been shortened.

Typically, the Cua Hoi bridge project has been completed and opened, connecting Cua Lo with Nghi Xuan (Ha Tinh) and connecting to the coastal highway. Along with that, the coastal highway phase 1 section passing through Cua Lo has also been opened and put into use. In addition, the important traffic project Vinh - Cua Lo boulevard phase 1 has been opened, currently implementing phase 2.

Most notably, the Cua Hoi entertainment area project and cable car to Ngu Island with an adjusted scale of nearly 150 hectares invested by Vingroup Corporation are being urgently constructed, expected to be completed and opened in the 2024 tourist season.

In 2023 , the total number of tourists to Cua Lo is estimated at 3.6 million (106% of the annual plan), an increase of 14.2% over the same period. Of which, the number of overnight visitors is estimated at 1.256 million (100.05% of the annual plan), an increase of 10.5% over the same period. Revenue from service and tourism activities is estimated at 3,562 billion VND (100.03% of the annual plan), an increase of 10.6% over the same period. Therefore, in 2024, Cua Lo town sets a goal of welcoming and serving 4.15 million tourists, of which overnight visitors will reach 1.45 million; tourism revenue will reach 4,200 billion VND.
