On the morning of December 11, 2023, the seminar "Development trends of the semiconductor industry, artificial intelligence and opportunities for Vietnam" chaired by the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI), organized by NIC and NVIDIA Corporation (USA) took place at NIC Hoa Lac.
Previously, on September 18, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited and worked with NVIDIA.
During the visit and discussion at NIC, NVIDIA Chairman Jensen Huang highly appreciated Vietnam's great potential and opportunities in the semiconductor and artificial intelligence (AI) industry, especially Vietnam's human resources in this field.
Mr. Jensen Huang said: “AI is a new wave that has emerged and can be said to be the biggest ever. Now is a great opportunity for Vietnam. Vietnam has prepared well and this is your opportunity.
This is an extremely great time for both sides to establish a strategic relationship, AI and chip - both industries are vital for the prosperity of countries. Vietnam is a partner of NVIDIA. We will further expand the existing partnership with Vietnam, as well as contribute to Vietnam's AI in the future. We are committed to making Vietnam our second home and establishing a legal entity in Vietnam."
According to the President of NVIDIA, Vietnam has a goodeducation and infrastructure and just needs to encourage new generations to enter the AI world, encourage Vietnamese experts and engineers abroad to return home, there will be many advantages. The current problem is to improve skills and build 1 million AI experts.
NVIDIA President said the Group is ready to cooperate with Vietnam to improve AI skills and infrastructure.
Minister Nguyen Chi Dung also stated that Vietnam has a number of advantages to develop the semiconductor and AI industries and is committed to creating favorable conditions for NVIDIA to operate in Vietnam.
In addition, the Minister of Planning and Investment requested NVIDIA to promote research and implementation of investment projects on semiconductors and AI in Vietnam; cooperate, invest, and build R&D centers and laboratories for designing and developing NVIDIA semiconductor microchip products at NIC and high-tech zones;
Cooperate, consult, and support NIC in training resources and experts in building training and practice programs in the fields of semiconductors and AI; Create conditions for Vietnamese engineers and students to participate in internships and work at NVIDIA;
The Minister of Planning and Investment also asked NVIDIA to accompany Vietnam in building a semiconductor business incubator, as well as advise Vietnam on forming businesses to support the provision of products and services;
Support and coordinate with Vietnam to access and implement projects within the framework of the US Government's Semiconductor Manufacturing and Development Fund; continue to expand cooperation and business investment activities in Vietnam, promote cooperation with typical Vietnamese enterprises and develop an ecosystem to support the semiconductor and AI industries in Vietnam;
Coordinate with NIC to implement the Project on Human Resource Development for Vietnam's Semiconductor Industry to 2030 and cooperate with major training institutions in Vietnam to implement human resource training programs for the semiconductor industry.
NVIDIA is a multinational technology company that designs graphics processing units (GPUs), application programming interfaces (APIs) for data science and high-performance computing, and systems on chips (SoCs) for the mobile computing and automotive markets. While it has many competitors, NVIDIA is considered a unique company because other companies in the AI field use NVIDIA products.
As of now, NVIDIA has more than 27,000 employees worldwide, with revenue reaching nearly 27 billion USD. With the global AI fever, NVIDIA is increasing its AI chip production plan for 2024 by more than 3 times, and the corporation's revenue is expected to increase significantly in the near future.
