Training on tourism resource investigation in the Northern region

On June 24, in Hanoi, Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism Pham Van Thuy chaired a training conference on tourism resource investigation in the Northern region in 2025.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, Deputy Director Pham Van Thuy stated that Vietnam is blessed with many scenic spots and diverse ecosystems, along with a rich cultural and historical treasure, creating great potential for tourism development. Promoting the values ​​of natural and cultural resources is an important basis for building strategies, planning, policies, tourism development plans, and building tourism products. Therefore, the investigation of tourism resources plays a leading role in the process of managing and developing the tourism industry. The investigation results help clarify information, build a detailed and multidimensional database of tourism resources, helping state management from the central to local levels to be unified, effective and sustainable in both planning and planning, and in exploiting and managing tourism resources.

The Deputy Director said that the 2017 Tourism Law has detailed regulations on tourism resource investigation. This is an important task with a wide scope of implementation nationwide, therefore, it needs to be comprehensively deployed, methodically and in detail for each locality and each type of resource to create a database for long-term use. On that basis, in 2024, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued a Plan and Scheme for tourism resource investigation, which clearly stipulates the responsibilities of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the People's Committees of provinces/cities, and management entities in tourism resource investigation.

Prof. Dr. Bui Thanh Thuy - Head of Tourism Faculty, Hanoi University of Culture presented detailed descriptions and explanations of tourism resources according to each tourism resource code.

This training conference on the implementation of tourism resource investigation in the Northern region in 2025 has a decisive meaning for the results and quality of the investigation, assessment and classification of tourism resources, thereby forming an overall picture of the tourism resources of the whole country.

The Deputy Director suggested that after the conference, localities should urgently develop plans to conduct resource surveys, associated with state management of tourism, to serve the planning, exploitation and development of tourism destinations and products.

At the conference, delegates listened to representatives of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism and Prof. Dr. Bui Thanh Thuy - Head of the Faculty of Tourism, Hanoi University of Culture present on types of tourism resources, criteria system for evaluating tourism resources, detailed evaluation scale; disseminate the tourism resource investigation handbook; tourism resource organization and implementation process; tourism resource dossier; forms for collecting and synthesizing tourism resource investigation information. At the same time, the conference also spent time for delegates to discuss and answer questions related to the implementation of tourism resource investigation.
