Focus on measures against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in the last months of the year

On the morning of August 8, the National Steering Committee against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods (National Steering Committee 389) held an online national meeting to review the work in the first 6 months of the year; and directions and tasks for the last 6 months of the year. Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang, Head of the National Steering Committee 389 chaired the meeting. Attending at the Quang Ninh province bridge were Mr. Vu Van Dien, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial Steering Committee 389; and members of the Provincial Steering Committee 389.

In recent times, the National Steering Committee 389 and ministries, branches, provinces and cities have done a good job of leading, directing and thoroughly grasping, requiring units and forces to strictly implement the directives of the Government, the Prime Minister, and the National Steering Committee 389 on the fight against smuggling, trade fraud (GLTM) and counterfeit goods. The functional forces have actively and proactively carried out professional measures, promptly detected, fought, prevented, arrested and strictly handled violations of the law related to smuggling, GLTM and counterfeit goods, illegal transportation of goods across the border in accordance with their authority, contributing to stabilizing the market, protecting the rights and interests of businesses and consumers, ensuring security and order, serving the socio -economic development of the country.

In Quang Ninh, in the first 6 months of 2024, smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods activities in the province continued to be strictly controlled and safe. Notably, up to now, the provincial authorities have arrested and handled 1,584 cases of smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods, with the value of infringing goods exceeding 19 billion VND, down 9.16% in number of cases, up 52.1% in value compared to the same period in 2023; criminally prosecuted 27 cases/40 subjects, up 50% in number of cases, up 100% in subjects compared to the same period in 2023; handled 1,448 administrative violations; collected additional taxes of 70.25 billion VND...

Concluding the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang, Head of the National Steering Committee 389, requested agencies and units to effectively implement solutions to prevent and combat smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods; especially promoting the role of heads of agencies and units; strengthening coordination between agencies, sectors and levels in performing tasks and providing information.

At the same time, focus on inspection and supervision, thereby detecting loopholes and errors; strengthen the implementation of public ethics, regularly provide training to improve working capacity; propagate to raise consumer awareness, so that consumers become smart consumers; increase the application of digital technology and information technology to deal with violations, and perform tasks more effectively...

Immediately after the online meeting, the Provincial Steering Committee 389 held a meeting to deploy the work of combating smuggling and trade fraud in the last 6 months of 2024. Directing a number of key tasks in the coming time, Comrade Vu Van Dien, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial Steering Committee 389 requested the steering committee's member branches to strengthen the coordination mechanism to effectively perform assigned tasks; focus on strictly managing the sea and land borders, closely following the locality, and promptly handling problems and incidents arising from the grassroots.

Comrade Vu Van Dien, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial Steering Committee 389, directed a number of key tasks in the coming time.

The Department of Finance shall take the lead in developing a coordination mechanism between sectors and localities; strengthen the effective implementation of declaration and use of electronic invoices; strictly manage online sales. The Department of Planning and Investment shall coordinate with the Provincial Police and the Provincial Tax Department to review and strictly manage the activities of enterprises in the province; advise the Provincial People's Committee on the contents of organizing meetings to resolve existing problems related to: Digital transformation, management, conversion of business households in enterprises... expected in the third quarter of 2024. The Provincial Fatherland Front Committee and the Provincial Communications Center shall coordinate with sectors and localities to strengthen propaganda against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods.
