Pest and disease outbreaks are at a mild level, with rats and golden apple snails causing localized damage in some areas, but not significantly impacting production. Despite these positive signs, farmers still face many difficulties due to rising prices of agricultural supplies and fuel, which significantly increase production costs and put considerable pressure on farmers this season.

Mr. Nguyen Van Be (residing in Ong Let hamlet) said: “For the 2026 Summer-Autumn rice crop, my family planted 2 hectares of OM18 rice. Currently, the rice plants are over 30 days old and developing well. From the beginning of the season, my family sowed according to the recommended planting schedule from the local authorities, so we were able to minimize pest and disease damage.”
However, what worries Mr. Bé and many other households is the ever-increasing cost of inputs. According to him, if the price of supplies continues to be high, it will significantly affect farmers' profits. People hope that the government will find solutions to stabilize prices so that they can invest in production with peace of mind.
In response to this situation, the local government implemented various solutions to support farmers in reducing costs and improving production efficiency. According to Bui Van Tinh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Vinh Hung commune, the locality advised people to use short-day, high-yield rice varieties suitable to the local soil conditions, and reduced the amount of seeds sown to about 80-100 kg/ha to save costs and limit pests and diseases.
Furthermore, agricultural experts guide farmers in the rational and balanced use of fertilizers, avoiding the overuse of chemical fertilizers to reduce production costs and increase profits. The application of science and technology, especially mechanization in agricultural production, continues to be promoted, such as the use of drones for sowing, spraying pesticides, and fertilizing, saving labor and improving production efficiency. In addition, agricultural cooperatives strengthen their links with businesses to support input supply and product distribution, helping farmers feel secure in their production and aiming for a successful harvest.
