Determining compensation rates must ensure they are realistic.

On the afternoon of May 27th, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Trinh, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Permanent Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tay Ninh province, chaired a social critique conference on the draft Decision of the Provincial People's Committee promulgating regulations on compensation rates for actual damages to houses, residential buildings, construction works, relocation costs, and demolition costs of assets attached to land when the State recovers land in the province.

Former Standing Committee member of the Long An Provincial Party Committee, former Vice Chairman in charge of the Long An Provincial People's Council, and member of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Long An province, Mai Van Nhieu, contributed his opinions.

After the Department of Construction's leadership representatives approved the key contents of the draft, the delegates proposed specific and comprehensive adjustments and additions regarding the principles for determining the actual compensation unit price for damage to houses, residential buildings, and construction works; the cost of relocating and demolishing assets; the method for determining the compensation unit price; reviewing the appropriate unit price adjustment coefficient; ensuring transparency and openness in unit price adjustments; and the specific responsibilities of each unit in implementation, ensuring that the adjustments are realistic and consistent with the construction cost level and the socio-economic conditions of the locality.

Concluding the conference, Standing Committee member of the Provincial Party Committee and Permanent Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tay Ninh province, Nguyen Thi Thu Trinh, agreed on the principle of harmonizing interests and ensuring that people whose land is confiscated have living conditions equal to or better than their current conditions, in a spirit of openness, transparency, and fairness; minimizing the number of difficult issues pushed down to the grassroots level. In particular, based on the opinions of the delegates, she suggested reviewing the adjustment coefficient for unit prices to ensure it is appropriate and realistic...

She highly appreciated and fully acknowledged all the contributions made at the conference. Based on that, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province will direct its specialized department to compile and finalize the social critique report to send to the Department of Construction for review, consideration, and explanation as required; and will continue to monitor and provide feedback in the final stages before submitting it to the Provincial People's Committee for consideration and promulgation.
