On December 29, Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai attended and directed the national online conference to review the work in 2023 and deploy tasks in 2024 of the Inspection sector.

Through inspection, many economic violations were discovered and recommendations were made to recover assets.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai said that in the country's overall socio-economic achievements, there are positive contributions from the inspection sector in detecting and handling violations of the law within its authority and proposing and recommending timely amendments to shortcomings and inadequacies in state management activities; advising on handling complaints and denunciations and preventing and combating corruption and negativity, contributing to socio-economic development.

The entire inspection sector has conducted more than 7,600 administrative inspections and over 193,700 specialized inspections and checks. Through inspections, many economic violations have been discovered, with recommendations for asset recovery; administrative sanctions have been imposed; and hundreds of cases and subjects have been transferred to investigative agencies for consideration and handling.

The Government Inspectorate and the entire industry have carried out a number of surprise inspections of a complex nature that have received special attention from the public. Thereby, violations have been detected, recommendations have been made for drastic and lawful handling, and many cases with signs of serious violations of the law have been transferred to the investigation agency for further handling according to their authority, recovering money and assets for the state.

The work of receiving citizens and handling complaints and denunciations has seen clear changes, especially in handling backlogged, complicated and prolonged cases. The rate of handling complaints and denunciations under the authority continues to achieve high results (over 88%), many complicated cases have been completely resolved.

Heads at all levels and sectors have increased public reception and dialogue to resolve cases. The organization of the implementation of decisions on handling complaints and denunciations that have come into legal effect has been directed with attention and achieved high results.

In addition to the achieved results, Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh said that the inspection sector still has limitations and shortcomings that need to be promptly overcome related to the quality of some inspections; post-inspection handling; citizen reception; handling of complaints and denunciations; and the work of preventing and combating corruption and negativity, etc.

The Deputy Prime Minister requested to urgently implement the approved inspection orientation and plan for 2024 in a focused and effective manner.

Regarding the work in 2024, Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai requested the Government Inspectorate to closely follow the direction of the Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption and Negativity at all levels, the Government, the Prime Minister, and heads of administrative agencies at the same level to develop and implement tasks in the management field, both short-term and long-term, especially tasks according to the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and the 5-year socio-economic development plan for the period 2021-2025.

Urgently deploy the approved 2024 inspection orientation and plan in a focused and effective manner, focusing on inspections of sensitive sectors and fields that are prone to corruption and negativity, have many complaints and denunciations, and are of public concern.

Effectively implement Directive No. 26/CT-TTg dated October 20, 2023 of the Prime Minister on rectifying and strengthening inspection, examination and supervision of public service activities; evaluate the implementation of policies and laws in stages and management activities that regularly involve contact between cadres, civil servants and public employees with people and businesses, especially stages and areas where violations have occurred or there is much public opinion about manifestations of harassment, negativity, and causing trouble for people and businesses.

The Deputy Prime Minister requested to seriously implement the Government's resolution, the Prime Minister's direction, and the Government Inspectorate's plan on receiving citizens and handling complaints and denunciations; closely coordinate between the central and local levels, promptly and thoroughly resolve them right at the grassroots level, and prevent "hot spots" from arising, especially complicated and prolonged complaints and denunciations, and cases of complaints and denunciations that go beyond the central level.

"The spirit is to thoroughly handle outstanding cases and not let new cases arise," the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized.

Along with that, the Deputy Prime Minister requested to continue to synchronously implement policies, laws on preventing and combating corruption and negativity. In particular, attention should be paid to effectively implementing solutions to prevent corruption. The focus is on publicity and transparency in the organization and operation of agencies, organizations and units; controlling conflicts of interest; controlling assets and income of people with positions and powers.

Improve the effectiveness of detecting and handling corruption, focusing on inspecting sensitive areas, areas with high risk of corruption or areas with a lot of public opinion about corruption. Strengthen inspection of the responsibility of heads of state administrative agencies in implementing laws on preventing and combating corruption and negativity, promptly detecting and handling violations of the law.
