According to the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board, Metro Line 1 Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien will extend its operating hours, running through the night to serve passengers celebrating New Year's Eve on January 29, 2025 (the first day of the Lunar New Year).
Accordingly, during the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday, the Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien metro line will increase its daily operating hours, a change from the previously planned reduction.
People choose to commute to work daily by metro train.
Specifically, from January 24th to 28th (25th-29th of the Lunar New Year), the tram will run from 5 am to 11 pm, an hour longer than usual.
To serve residents and tourists who want to enjoy the festivities, watch fireworks, and celebrate New Year's Eve, on January 29th (the first day of Tet), in addition to the scheduled hours from 5 AM to 11 PM, the Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien metro line will operate an extra service from 0:30 AM to 2 AM.
From January 30th to February 2nd (the 2nd to 5th day of the Lunar New Year), trains will operate from 5 AM to 10 PM.
Previously, Ho Chi Minh City also increased the operating hours and frequency of metro services during the New Year holiday to facilitate travel and allow people to experience this new mode of transportation.
According to the plan, after 30 days of free service, starting from January 21st, passengers on Metro Line 1 will officially pay for tickets with options to purchase single-trip tickets, day passes, or monthly passes for convenient travel.
The fare for a single trip ranges from 7,000 to 20,000 VND for cash payments and from 6,000 to 19,000 VND for non-cash payments.
A one-day pass costs 40,000 VND per person, and a three-day pass costs 90,000 VND per person (unlimited rides).
Additionally, monthly passes are priced at 300,000 VND per person for regular customers and 150,000 VND per person for students.
Passengers who purchase single-trip tickets at the counter with cash will receive a paper ticket with a QR code to scan upon entering the station, or they can pay using an international EMV card or a domestic card.
