Cruise ship catches fire in Bai Tu Long Bay

The 132-seat Tung Duong QN-8686 caught fire at around 5:30 p.m. today. At that time, the passenger ship on the Van Don - Quan Lan route was anchored to refuel, in the water area of ​​Van Don district, 400m from Ao Tien International Port.

A tourist boat caught fire fiercely on Bai Tu Long Bay (Van Don, Quang Ninh) and was almost completely burned down, with initial damage estimated at several billion VND.

Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Force ( Quang Ninh Provincial Police) was present at the scene, mobilizing nearby ships to assist in fire fighting.

There were five crew members on board. After initial attempts to extinguish the fire failed, the crew jumped into the sea and swam to a nearby ship. The fire did not cause any casualties.

After many firefighting efforts, the fire was extinguished but the ship was heavily damaged.

Witnesses said the fire first broke out at the stern of the ship, then spread to the entire hull.

The ships quickly sprayed water to help extinguish the fire. The fire was brought under control, but the cruise ship was completely burned, with only part of the hull remaining.
