Tay Ninh: Decentralizing the management of 223 relics to the province and communes

To meet the new requirements, the People's Committee of Tay Ninh province emphasized that timely reception, management, protection and promotion of the value of relics is extremely necessary, not allowing gaps in management work.

According to statistics, Tay Ninh province currently has 223 relics; including 1 special national relic, 49 national relics and 173 provincial relics.

According to the new decentralization, the province will directly manage 16 relics, including 1 special national relic, 12 national-level relics, 3 provincial-level relics and 1 cultural work.

These are typical relics with special historical, cultural and revolutionary values, associated with the tradition and identity of Tay Ninh. The Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to coordinate with the Management Board of Ba Den Mountain National Tourist Area, the Management Board of Southern Revolutionary Historical Relics and the Provincial Police to organize the conservation and effective promotion of the relic's value.

Notably, the remaining 207 relics (including 37 national relics and 170 provincial relics) will be decentralized to the People's Committees of communes and wards for direct management.

This is a strong step of decentralization, bringing the work of preserving and promoting heritage values ​​more closely to the local government - closer to the people, closer to the relics, more convenient for protection and exploitation. However, along with the opportunities, localities also face many difficulties in terms of human resources, funding and expertise when receiving a large number of relics.

The Provincial People's Committee requested communes and wards to proactively coordinate with the cultural sector and relevant agencies to promptly resolve difficulties; at the same time, assign the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to guide, inspect, and advise on the issuance of a new decision on decentralization of relic management according to the 2024 Law on Cultural Heritage and the direction of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The Provincial People's Committee emphasized that the reception and management of relics must be seriously implemented, without interruption, while promoting the role and responsibility of each level and each sector in the work of preserving and promoting the value of cultural heritage in the province./.
