Previously, the film “Red Rain” also set a series of records for Vietnamese films. The film reached the 100 billion VND mark after only three days of release. On August 28, “Red Rain” became the highest-grossing Vietnamese film about revolutionary war of all time.

“Red Rain” is the first film not directed by Tran Thanh to earn more than 40 billion VND/day. Previously, the highest record belonged to “Mai” with a revenue of 43.9 billion VND, set on February 14, 2024. However, on the afternoon of August 31, “Red Rain” simultaneously set 2 records: The most popular film in Vietnam in 2025 (surpassing “The Four Guardians”) and the film with the highest revenue in one day in the history of the Vietnamese box office with 47.6 billion VND.

On the evening of September 5, “Red Rain” surpassed the 500 billion VND revenue mark in just 2 weeks of release, becoming the fastest Vietnamese film to reach this milestone of all time.

“Red Rain” is produced by the People’s Army Cinema in collaboration with HKFilm and Galaxy Studio, directed by Meritorious Artist Dang Thai Huyen. The film is inspired by the 81-day and night battle in 1972 at Quang Tri Citadel of the K3 Tam Dao Battalion - an important location for Vietnam to win at the Paris Agreement negotiation table.

The film recreates the fierce atmosphere when tens of thousands of young soldiers had to fight in extremely difficult conditions, with blood mixed with bombs and bullets. The work not only reflects the brutal scale of war but also focuses on depicting the fate, emotions, struggles and aspirations of the soldiers. The work promotes human values, praises immortal sacrifices but still puts people at the center - people who are both ordinary and extraordinary in historical moments.

The film stars Do Nhat Hoang, Phuong Nam, Lam Thanh Nha, Hoang Long, Dinh Khang, Steven Nguyen, Nguyen Hung, Ha Anh...

Since its release, “Red Rain” has been a sellout, with many theaters recording high occupancy rates over the past few days.

As of this weekend, the film is still in the number 1 position on the box office chart with nearly 76 billion VND, far surpassing other competitors such as "Get Rich with Ghosts 2: Diamond War" or the Vietnamese-Thai co-production "Ghost Bride"...

With nearly 5,000 screenings per day and the number of audiences still filling up the theaters, experts affirm that “Red Rain” will continue to reach new milestones in Vietnamese cinema such as the first film to reach a revenue of 600 billion VND and higher.

In particular, on the evening of September 4, at the yard of the Quang Tri Citadel relic site, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Tri coordinated with the People's Army Cinema to organize a screening of the film. Here, the Organizing Committee arranged a special row of seats, on which there was only a backpack and a bucket hat to pay tribute to the heroic martyrs who heroically sacrificed to protect every inch of the Fatherland. The screening was attended by leaders, relatives of martyrs and many people from all walks of life in the area.

The film screening at this special relic site is an opportunity to commemorate and honor the heroic sacrifice of the martyrs at Quang Tri Citadel, and at the same time express the film crew's deep gratitude to the people, agencies, units and localities that accompanied the film crew throughout the production process.
