"The Seven Tiger Generals of Tay Son" are being adapted into a film.

The story of the seven outstanding heroes under Emperor Quang Trung will appear in the series "The Seven Tiger Generals of Tay Son," with the opening film titled "The Ky Nam Archer Ly Van Buu."

The film crew officially launched in Ho Chi Minh City on the evening of April 11th, including: producer Phan Phuc, director and action director Vo Duc, and producer Vo Khoi. Regarding the cast, the lead male role – General Ly Van Buu – is played by actor Hieu Nguyen. He will have the opportunity to reunite with his co-star from "Red Rain" – Le Ha Anh, who will play the role of Concubine Diep Tu.

In addition, the film also features: distinguished educator Mạnh Dung, People's Artist Trần Nhượng, Doãn Quốc Đam, Ngô Thành Tá, Nguyễn Quốc Trường Thịnh, Sỹ Toàn...

Belonging to the historical, period, detective, and martial arts genres, *Kỳ Nam Archer* revolves around Admiral Lý Văn Bưu, a military general of the Tây Sơn dynasty. Born into a wealthy family specializing in horse trading in the Phù Cát region, he was one of the seven generals known as the "Seven Tiger Generals of Tây Sơn"—a loyal, upright, and skilled warrior.

When King Quang Trung suddenly fell into a coma for unknown reasons, Ly Van Buu – a legendary general nicknamed "Ky Nam Than Cung" – was drawn into the conspiracy of powerful officials and fought alone against both internal and external enemies. However, he was falsely accused of treason and taken to the execution grounds to await beheading.

Before filming begins in May 2026, the film crew held three casting sessions in 2025 in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi , and Gia Lai to find suitable actors who meet the criteria of dedication, vision, and ability. Filming is expected to take approximately two months, with many locations in Tay Son (Gia Lai): Quang Trung Museum, Tay Son ancient houses, Thien Hung ancient pagoda, Mang Yang, Dak Doa, etc.

In particular, in addition to the actual filming location, at the end of 2025 the film crew began construction of their own film set at the Ham Ho tourist area.

The team also revealed that the estimated production budget is nearly 23 billion VND and they expect to achieve a revenue of 100 billion VND. The film is scheduled to be released to audiences in the first quarter of 2027.
