The Mi-24, also known as the “flying tank”, is a combat helicopter manufactured by the Mil factory and put into service with the Soviet Air Force since 1972. The Mi-24 is 19.79m long; 6.5m high; empty weight is nearly 8.4 tons; maximum take-off weight is 12.5 tons. The rear compartment of the Mi-24 is large enough to carry 8 fully armed soldiers or up to 2.4 tons of cargo.

The Mi-24 is equipped with 2 Klimov TV3-117 engines, with a capacity of 2,200 horsepower each. Thanks to the powerful engine, the Mi-24 can fly at a maximum speed of 310 km/h and a range of 450 km.

The Mi-24 is used by Ukraine to perform a variety of missions, including providing fire support to ground troops, transporting personnel, and conducting search and rescue operations. The destruction of this type of aircraft on the airfield is a major blow to the combat capabilities of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

On July 2, information about the destruction and damage of 7 Ukrainian Su-27s was also published in the media. Iskander missiles were used by the Russian military to attack the military aircraft parking lot of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to objective control data, the result of the attack was the destruction of 5 Su-27 multirole fighters and 2 aircraft were seriously damaged.

According to a source from the Russian Defense Ministry , the Iskander-M missile hit its target, causing significant damage to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. As a result of the attack, five Su-27 multirole fighters were destroyed and many others were damaged.

The loss of such a large number of combat aircraft will make it difficult for the Ukrainian Armed Forces to carry out offensive air operations.
